Duties/Responsibilities


Duties/Responsibilities
Development and application of methods for validation of specificities for known and novel carbohydrate active enzymes by protein expression and biochemical characterization. This responsibility involves understanding of techniques for recombinant protein expression and analytical techniques to study protein function.
Percentage of time 25


Duties/Responsibilities
Creation of universal expression construct library for the generation of recombinant proteins. This will require collaboration and coordination with multiple research labs at UGA.

Duties/Responsibilities
Development of and perform activity assays of enzymes that modify and/or deconstruct plant carbohydrates. This task involves the design of experiments, preparation of substrates and enzymes for assays, and interpretation of results.

Duties/Responsibilities
Train team members and Users-in-Residence to express and biochemically characterize carbohydrate active enzymes. Mentor undergraduate students in research techniques.

Duties/Responsibilities
Preparation of progress reports and manuscripts for scientific journals, including meticulous maintenance of records, attention to detail, and data analysis. Preparation presentations and for and attendance and participation in scientific conferences, bi-monthly project/ team meetings, lab meetings and one-on-one meetings. These responsibilities involve critical thinking and knowledge of the literature in the field.
