Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) -GI Medical Oncology Infusion- The James

The GI medical oncology team consists of specialists who are dedicated to advancing the care, treatment and research of patients who have GI related cancers. The Advanced practice provider will provide primary coverage of the infusion and acute visit clinic including evaluation and management of a broad variety of oncology focused urgent and non-urgent issues. Performs an appropriate focused examination for acute and complex chronically ill patients. Manages initial evaluation to diagnostic testing through ordering and implementation of care. Facilitates hospital admissions as needed. Communicates changes in patient's health status or urgent patient issues to the primary attending and team in a timely manner. Collaborates and consults with interdisciplinary health team to ensure safe, effective, and timely treatment.

Scope of Position
The Advanced practice provider is responsible for providing health care services to adult patients within the parameters of a supervisory agreement with an attending physician member of James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.

Position Summary
The Advanced practice provider provides health care services to adult patients working under the supervision of a licensed physician member of the medical staff. Health care services provided include care during acute and chronic phases of illness, education and counseling of individuals and families, health promotion and prevention and referral to other health care providers and community resources when appropriate.

Required Qualifications
Current license and certificate of authority to practice as a CNP in the State of Ohio.

Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner program that qualifies the graduate to sit for the certification examination of a national certifying organization recognized by the Ohio board of Nursing. Master's degree in Nursing.

Current license and certificate of authority to practice as a PA in the State of Ohio. Graduate of a Physician Assistant program that qualifies the graduate to sit for national Certification Commision for Physician Assistant (NCCPA) certification.
