Duties and Responsibilities |
The
Division of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy at Loyola University Medical Center is recruiting an board-certified Vascular Surgeon at the Associate Professor or Professor level with significant experience and interest in the management of
complex aortic disease to serve as
Co-Director of Loyola's Center for Aortic Disease. This is an opportunity to join a well-established group of academic vascular surgeons and to partner with our cardiothoracic surgery group in continuing to develop the aortic center with a focus on screening, surveillance, intervention and clinical trials. The ideal candidate would possess at least 5 years of experience, have a track record of excellence in complex aortic disease management and a take collaborative approach to patient care. The position includes a dual-appointment at Loyola University Medical Center (
LUMC) and the Edward Hines Jr. Veterans Administration Hospital with call coverage of Loyola's two nearby affiliated community medical centers.
Loyola University Medical Center (
LUMC) is a 547-bed quaternary hospital in Maywood, Illinois that includes the William G. & Mary A. Ryan Center for Heart & Vascular Medicine, the Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center, a Level 1 trauma center, Illinois's largest burn center, and a certified comprehensive stroke center. Loyola is a participating center in the
SVS
VQI registries for aortic disease and home to a well-established
IAC accredited noninvasive vascular lab.
LUMC is part of Loyola Medicine, a three-hospital system that also includes, Gottlieb Memorial Hospital in Melrose Park, IL and MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, IL as well as multiple locations offering primary care, specialty care and immediate care services from more than 1,800 physicians throughout Cook, Will and DuPage counties. Loyola Medicine is part of Trinity Health, one of the largest Catholic health care delivery systems in the nation with 92 hospitals in 22 states. The Hines VA Hospital is a 483-bed Veteran's Affairs Hospital that sits on 170 acres adjacent to the
LUMC campus.
The candidate would be joining a group of 7 vascular surgeons, including Dr. Vivian Gahtan, Chair of Loyola's Department of Surgery and Dr. Bernadette Aulivola, Director of the Division of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy. Loyola has an established Vascular Surgery fellowship training program with one trainee per year and a Vascular Surgery Residency Program, matching one trainee per year with the first trainee expected to graduate from the program in 2025. There are numerous opportunities for involvement in Division research efforts and participation in the education and mentorship of medical students, Surgery residents and Vascular Surgery trainees.
Requirements
Either an M.D. or D.O. degree
ABS Board Certified in Vascular Surgery
5 years of experience necessary
