Job Summary : Serves the needs of the community through providing Evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, coordination of care and preventative care for musculoskeletal, and neurological injuries. Provide Education to patients, patients' families, hospital associates and the community. Serve as liaison between patients and family, physicians, and hospital services.This position is for Cascade High School (Mill-Creek School Corporation) located about 30 minutes from Indianapolis in Clayton, Indiana. It is a growing community with 3A football and updated facilities. No teaching or clinic hours required. Job Description Essential Responsibilities:
1. Evaluates injuries, provides warranted first-aid, treatment and makes appropriate follow up referrals to the team -, family- or specialist physician. Provides high quality care, and education to athletic injuries to achieve goals of: a.restoration of mobility and strength b. prevention of disability following injury c. returning the athlete to his maximum athletic performance and d. prevention of re-injury. Provides care to middle school, high school, and young adult to middle-aged athletes. 2. Supervises rehabilitation of the injured athlete and assesses readiness to return to participation. With the involved physician, determines the athlete can to return to athletic activity. 3. Provides coverage of in-season and off season practices and athletic competitions at the high school and/or middle school levels as agreed upon by the involved school and the Hendricks Regional Health Sports Medicine Department. 4. Maintains an adequate level of supplies and requests/orders supply replenishments. Maintains equipment and supplies to ensure safety of the patient. 5. Responsible for providing education to the athletic director, coaches, athletes, and parents in the prevention, care and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. The education will be relevant to middle and high school athletes. Education may include all areas of expertise and knowledge that the athletic trainer possesses. (ie. taping, nutrition, injury prevention, etc.). 6. Provides supervision and assistance as needed in the purchase and fitting of athleticequipment including braces, bandages, taping and other active assistive devices. Carries out instructions regarding such said equipment. 7. Follows established procedure and observes safety precautions in the operation and application of the use of heat, cold, light, water, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, massage, therapeutic and sports specific exercise, taping, counseling, education, and exercise equipment on the field and in the training room. 8. The ATC is responsible for administering and maintaining the training room. 9. Active in the decision making process regarding transportation of athletes on and off the field and assists in this transportation. 10. Maintains accurate and up-to-date documentation on athletes treated. Follows documentation guidelines deemed necessary per Sports Medicine Program Coordinator or Executive Director of Professional Services. Via this documentation, relays pertinent information to those involved (ie. physician, athletic director, coach, parent/guardian, and athlete). 11. Assists in determining his/her schedule, as it pertains to coverage at school of responsibility, with the Sports Medicine Program Coordinator. Responsible for meeting the requirements of established schedule, unless otherwise informed. 12. Maintains high quality level of skills and participates in ongoing educational opportunities adequate to maintain certification in good standing with the Board of Certification, Inc. Participates in the presentation and preparation of in-services concerning job training. Maintains current certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation. 13. Follows program, department and hospital policies and procedures. Supports hospital's mission and values statement, strategic plan and vision. Also supports the program and department service statements and philosophies. 14. Participates in providing coverage for community athletic events as deemed necessary per Sports Medicine Program Coordinator. Graduate of an CAATE approved athletic training curriculum program or internship program. 2. Prefer one year experience as an athletic trainer, but not essential. Mandatory Licensure/Certifications: 1. Licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of Indiana. 2.National certification as an athletic trainer through the BOC, Inc. 3.Certified CPR.
