The Dell Medical School Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, in conjunction with the Seton Healthcare Family, is seeking a board-certified Pediatric Psychologist to join our clinical faculty. Provide psychology and clinical leadership and coordination of child and adolescent clinical services in Austin, Texas. We seek a physician who will help our department achieve the goal of working with our community partners to develop clinical, educational initiatives that revolutionize how people get and stay mentally healthy in Central Texas and beyond.

Clinical services provide culturally informed, evidence-based care for individuals and families in multiple general medical and specialty behavioral health settings with an active and strong presence in community settings.

About the Position

The Dell Medical School Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences seeks a Pediatric Psychologist to join our clinical faculty and provide psychology and clinical leadership and coordination of child and adolescent clinical services across varied settings and modalities, including the tele-mental health based, Texas Child Health Access through Telemedicine (TCHATT) program and provider consultation hotline, Child and Perinatal Psychiatry Access Networks (CPAN/PeriPAN). In addition to providing direct clinical care to children and adolescents in the TCHATT and CPAN/PeriPAN programs, this position will serve as part of the clinical leadership team for these initiatives with responsibilities including:



  • Developing and implementing TCHATT and CPAN/PeriPAN programs across the Dell Med catchment area;
  • Ensuring high quality clinical educational/training experience for clinical staff in the TCHATT and CPAN/PeriPAN program; and
  • Participating in consortium activities related to TCHATT and CPAN/PeriPAN (e.g., meetings, data reporting, etc.)


The position includes opportunities for supervision of Psychology interns, Psychiatry residents, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellows, pre- and post-doctoral trainees, and participation in the Department's academic mission.

Essential Functions

The Pediatric Psychologist will conduct direct behavioral and mental health assessments, treatment planning, brief and long-term interventions, and interdisciplinary team consultation. They will work within an interprofessional model and routinely collaborate with pediatric psychiatrists, psychiatric residents, medical students, other psychologists, licensed professional counselors and internal adminisrative staff.

The Pediatric Psychologist will routinely interact with external stakeholders, including primary care physicians, staff and external public-school personnel to engage in collaborative care on behalf of subspecialty and primary care pediatric patients, identified at-risk public-school students and their families.

The Pediatric Psychologist will join our growing interdisciplinary faculty in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Dell Medical School. Engagement in provision of training, supervision and didactics for psychology interns and fellows, as well as participation in clinical research and general program development efforts through the Department, are encouraged.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications



  • Doctoral degree from an APA or CPA accredited program in Clinical, Counseling or School Psychology
  • Completion of an APA or CPA accredited internship in psychology
  • Completion of a postdoctoral fellowship in clinical child and adolescent or pediatric psychology
  • Unrestricted license to practice psychology in the State of Texas or ability to obtain prior to appointment
  • Eligibility and commitment to pursue board certification through the American Board of Professional Psychology.
  • Eligible for faculty appointment at The University of Texas Dell Medical School
  • This position requires qualification for an academic appointment in the University of Texas at Austin's Dell Medical School and includes associated faculty benefits.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Experience as a licensed psychologist providing clinical services via tele-mental health
  • Experience working in public school systems and community outreach
  • Experience in teaching and supervision of evidence-based clinical interventions
