Job Summary

Incumbent reports to the Clinical Administrative Director for Adult Outpatient Services, with significant accountability to the physician lead for the Adult Anxiety, OCD, and Tic Disorder Clinic. As part of a multidisciplinary treatment team, duties include but are not limited to providing mental health services including individual and group therapy to a caseload of patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety disorders, and tic disorders. Incumbent will complete psychosocial/functional assessments, mental status examinations, and comprehensive treatment plans. This individual will work with psychiatrists in the Adult Anxiety, OCD, and Tic Disorder Clinic, providers in the TMS and Neuromodulation Program-and potentially in the Child/Adolescent OCD and Tic Disorder Clinic-and will attend staff meetings within these clinics as requested. It is anticipated that this clinician will also participate in the development and coordination of an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for patients with OCD. This program will involve providing exposure-response prevention in group settings, patient/family education, and case management. The incumbent will establish program curricula and objectives, and will function with considerable autonomy. The incumbent will also assist in the development and implementation of operating policies and procedures for the program.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $41.79 - $72.17 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications


  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field from an accredited university
  • Licensed in the State of California (LCSW)
  • Experience working with populations of diverse ethnicity, gender identity, and sexual orientation
  • Recent direct patient care experience in a mental health setting, providing cognitive behavioral therapy to individuals and groups
  • Demonstrated ability to complete psychosocial/functional assessments, mental status examinations, comprehensive treatment development, and discharge planning for an IOP
  • Minimum of one year of experience providing psychotherapy groups and/or individual interventions using evidence-based practices of cognitive behavior therapy
  • Excellent documentation and clinical skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently; excellent follow-up; ability to work well under pressure and deadlines
  • Demonstrated excellent attendance and reliability
  • Demonstrated ability to assess suicide and violence risk
  • Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with colleagues as a member of the treatment team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A preliminary job offer and assignment may be extended pending successful background clearance
  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations and may include weekend shifts

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience working with people with OCD, tic disorders, and anxiety disorders; providing exposure-response prevention and comprehensive behavior intervention treatments
  • Recent direct patient care experience in individual and group settings, especially IOP
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the mental health system in the Bay Area, and demonstrated ability to navigate the mental health system to organize services for patients and family members
  • Experience providing comprehensive mental health services to children, adolescents, adults, and their families, including individual, group, and family psychotherapy, outreach, and case management in outpatient care settings
  • Ability to cross-cover in programs with various populations, including both children and adults

License/Certification


  • Licensed in the State of California (LCSW, LMFT)
    • Langley Porter Psychiatric Hospital & Clinics and UCSF Medical Center require all Advanced Health Professionals (AHP) to be credentialed through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governances (OMAG) in order to practice and function in their clinical role. This applies to both adult and pediatric AHPs in the inpatient and outpatient clinical settings at all Langley Porter and UCSF Medical Center sites. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days and must be completed prior to the first working day.
  • CPI certification within 6 months of hire
