As a Cost Accounting Manager, you'll play a key role within Bio-Rad's Global Supply Chain Finance team. You'll work on Manufacturing Cost Accounting & FP&A activities and serve as a liaison between the Irvine Manufacturing team and finance. In this highly visible and motivated team, you'll partner with functional and business leaders to prepare budgets, forecasts, financial analysis, reporting and provide ad hoc analysis to support decision making as needed. You'll be expected to have in-depth knowledge of your customer business unit or function in order to provide cost accounting responsibilities and provide accurate forecast. You should have a strong analytical background with strict attention to detail. You are a highly motivated, technically proficient person with a strong sense of ownership and business ethics to deliver quality work on a daily basis. You'll also share your financial expertise to guide entry level staff and drive process improvements within the Global Finance Group. This is a hybrid role based in our Irvine site.

How You'll Make An Impact:



  • You will lead the budgeting and forecasting process for the business. Additionally, lead the cost accounting and analysis, annual budgets and forecast processes to ensure our financial stability for the Site General Manager and the local functional teams.
  • Continue analyzing information to identify cost trends, variances and opportunities for cost optimization, support tracking productivity initiatives and become the financial leader to support execution of them.
  • Ensure robust processes and tools are in place for efficient availability of timely and high-quality financial data as well as actionable insights to leadership, for critical financial and business management decisions.
  • Business Partnering: Build strong relationships with manufacturing partners, acting as a trusted subject matter expert and yielding your influence to engage management and stakeholders to create alignment between the business and finance, and provide strategic advice; while ensuring alignment with financial goals, objectives and expectations.
  • Perform analysis on spending and absorption, purchase price variance, work orders, inventory driven costs (Scrap, E7O, cycle count, etc.) for the monthly scorecard and plant package.
  • Perform month end close and reporting duties and daily/annual standard cost setting responsibilities. Prepares quarterly internal and external audit controls and backup.
  • Transform the way we tackle obstacles by identifying process improvement opportunities, developing solution options, and implementing approved plans.
  • Reporting and analysis: Prepare and present monthly and quarterly financial reports to Irvine-GSC and Leadership and other stakeholders; while maintaining financial models to support business planning and forward looking visibility.
  • Support annual budget with the expectations to have high forecast accuracy, while timely raising deviations to the plan, to develop corrective actions.
  • Accountability: You will be the point of contact and be accountable for all the financial information, trending analysis, source data and translation into actionable initiatives.
  • Demonstrate ability to support with cost accounting knowledge, financial payback analyses, and planning ability to support the business.


What You Bring:



  • Education: BS/BA in Accounting, Economics, Finance or related field. An advanced degree is a plus.
  • Work Experience: At least 10+ years of experience in public accounting or corporate finance supporting Manufacturing and/or Supply Chain, SG&A, R&D and consolidations.
  • Experience with SAP, PowerBI (or related), Enterprise Level Accounting and Planning software, Essbase.
  • Passion for building strong relationships with finance and non-finance business partners.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and sound understanding of financial statement mechanics in a manufacturing environment. Technical proficiency providing accurate forecasts, translating GAAP terms for non-accounting partners, and using Excel (PivotTables, Sumifs, Sumproduct).
  • Strong leadership, analytical and communication skills and a hands-on, detail-oriented approach, with an eagerness to take ownership, influence business partners, and make an immediate impact in a dynamic environment.

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $114,700 to $157,800 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
