Job Summary

Under general supervision, provides medical care and transportation on the Support Team Assisted Response (STAR) vehicle. Attends to patients encountered during STAR response and provides support to the clinical social worker assigned. Provides supervision to STAR staff and training for newly hired STAR team members. Acts as a department liaison to internal and external agencies. Responsible for daily schedule oversight, assignment of personnel to units or events, assuring adequate resources and response to STAR commitments.

Essential Functions:

  • Overall system awareness (location and condition of vehicles and equipment, personnel, and other resources) and supporting the efficacy and success of system management. Be aware of current resources and manage their deployment. Have awareness of STAR system limitations and assist in managing the deployment of resources and staffing as needed. (20%)
  • Supervision of Paramedics and EMTs to include scheduling, accident logs, and incident reports. (20%)
  • Acts as key contact person to schedule students and training locations. (10%)
  • Researches, collects, and organizes marketing materials for the Program. (10%)
  • Manages and works in teams to ensure program implementation. (10%)
  • Works with other participating agencies and is involved in allocating resources based on program needs. (10%)
  • Maintains strong relationship with stakeholders to deliver resources as necessary. (10%)
  • Participates in assigned departmental committees, meetings, and planning/work groups. (10%)

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Work Experience:

  • 1-3 years Paramedic experience required.

Licenses:

  • DLR-Colorado Driver's License Class R - DMV - Department of Motor Vehicles required.
  • EMTP-EMT Paramedic - CO - State of Colorado required.
  • ACLS-Advanced Cardiac Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of all STAR Team policies and procedures.
  • Skill in communicating effectively in writing/verbal as appropriate for needs of audience. Skill in monitoring/assessing the performance of self, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective actions.
  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure. Ability to establish goals and objectives for street operations.
