Purpose of Position
To coordinate restoration and construction projects involving stream, wetland, and riparian buffers, including equipment operation, erosion control, native planting, and safety protocols. Supervise interns and contractors, conduct assessments using bio-assessment protocols and mapping techniques, and prepare detailed reports and documentation.

Maintain field equipment, vehicles, and tools, and perform additional duties as required.Manage and complete tasks required to achieve CER mission including engagement of interns, completing environmental restoration projects, and maintaining financial sustainability.
Primary Responsibilities
Conduct stream, wetland, and riparian buffer restoration and construction, including earth moving equipment operation, sediment and erosion control, native planting, invasive plant control, and health and safety practices. Train and supervise student and non-student intern-employees and oversee contractors in above tasks.

Conduct assessment of stream type and condition using standard stream and riparian bioassessment protocols, surveying, and GPS/ GIS mapping techniques. Utilize student and non-student intern-employees and contractors in above tasks. Prepare reports, graphs, photographs, and other documentation.

Assemble and maintain field vehicles, tools, equipment, instruments, computers, software, etc.

Recruit, hire, and manage interns. Manage and undertake all aspects of stream restoration projects. Track and manage project and program expenses to achieve budgets.
Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor's degree in environmental science, geology, natural resource management or related field with 1 year related work experience.

  • Must be certified in first aid, herbicide application, and be a certified compact equipment operator.
  • Must have skills in using Microsoft Office Excel and Word, Geographic Information Systems, GPS, surveying, earth moving equipment operation, power tool operation, and stream and riparian assessment and restoration construction.
  • Must have ability to perform medium heavy to maximum physical exertion and work in outdoor conditions.
  • Work involves ability to use moving equipment, power and hand tools, survey equipment, GPS, GIS.
  • Must have ability to drive four-wheel drive truck pulling trailer and have access to a dependable personal vehicle.
  • Demonstrated experience in personnel management, project implementation, and budget management.
