Job Summary:



The Department of Psychiatry has an opening for a full-time (0.5-1.0 FTE) Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner position. The Adult Division, Department of Psychiatry at the Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) who specializes in the treatment of mood disorders. The role will primarily comprise outpatient delivery of care to adult patients (ages 18 and up) suffering from depression and bipolar disorders. Exceptional clinicians with an interest in and demonstrated skills in innovative models of care, research and/or educational endeavors are encouraged to apply.

Clinical settings will likely include a busy outpatient clinic specializing in the treatment of mood disorders (The Johnson Depression Center). Knowledge of the management of patients with complex mood disorders, treatment-refractory mood disorders, complex and innovative psychopharmacology are all critical components of the skillset needed for this position.

The PMHNP/PA will work with a team of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurse practitioners, social workers and licensed professional counselors in the Johnson Depression Center, providing team-based care to a variety of patients in Colorado and the surrounding Western States area. Patient care includes intake evaluations, ongoing psychopharmacologic management, and consultations. Abundant education/supervision opportunities available with trainees from associated Anschutz Medical Campus schools, including the school of medicine and nursing. Opportunities for clinical research exists in subspecialty areas for interested applicants.

Key Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:



  • Evaluating new patients at the Johnson Depression Center for diagnosis and ongoing treatment. Most patients have complex medical and psychiatric histories.
  • Providing one-time diagnostic and treatment consultations.
  • Ongoing outpatient care of patients with complex depression, bipolar disorder and treatment-refractory mood conditions.
  • Actively contributing to academic advancement of their discipline
  • Keeping apprised of the latest developments in the field, both academically and through applied skills

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This position could be categorized as Instructor or Senior Instructor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. The ranks are based on how many years a candidate has been licensed and if they want to pursue the promotions track. Academic rank will be determined during the interview process after discussion between you and the department about your previous experience and academic desires.

Instructor:



  • 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
  • Board Certification with American Nurse Credentialing Agency or equivalent certification body
  • Active and unrestricted license in Colorado as an APN/RXN or PA
  • Experience working in psychiatry.


Senior Instructor:



  • 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
  • Board Certification with American Nurse Credentialing Agency or equivalent certification body
  • Active and unrestricted license in Colorado as an APN/RXN or PA
  • Experience working in psychiatry.


Preferred Qualifications: (Applicable to all ranks)



  • Experience working with individuals with mood disorders.
  • Active before start date to practice as a NP or PA in the State of Colorado.
  • Current and active certification in basic life support (BLS)

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position at 1.0 FTE has been established as HIRING RANGE:

* Instructor (NP/APN/PA): $120,000 to $135,000.

* Senior Instructor (NP/APN/PA): $120,000 to $135,000.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
