Job Description

EBAD seeks a qualified candidate for the position, Machine Shop Supervisor, reporting to the Machine Shop Manager. The position is for 2nd shift and is located in Moorpark, CA.

The Machine Shop Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of the machine shop, ensuring efficient production, adherence to quality standards, and a safe working environment. The Supervisor may be required to run production from time to time. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical knowledge of machining processes, and the ability to lead a diverse team.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervision and Leadership:
    • Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of machinists, technicians, and other shop personnel.
    • Plan and delegate daily work assignments and production schedules.
    • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate objectives, expectations, and feedback.
    • Provide constructive feedback to all reports on their strengths and areas for improvement.
    • Inspire staff to perform at the highest level through encouragement and coaching.
    • Forster an environment of open collaboration.
  • Production Management:
    • Ensure the timely completion of production orders while maintaining high-quality standards.
    • Monitor and optimize workflow and productivity in the machine shop.
    • Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Quality Control:
    • Oversee quality assurance processes to ensure all products meet company and customer specifications.
    • Perform regular inspections and audits of finished products and in-process work.
    • Collaborate with the Quality Control department to address any quality issues.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Promote and enforce a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies.
    • Conduct safety training and regular safety audits.
    • Investigate and report any accidents or incidents promptly.
  • Maintenance and Equipment Management:
    • Schedule and oversee routine maintenance and repairs of machinery and equipment.
    • Coordinate with the maintenance team to minimize downtime and maintain optimal machine performance.
    • Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance activities.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement lean manufacturing principles.
    • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
    • Encourage team involvement in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Maintain accurate records of production data, inventory, and personnel attendance.
    • Prepare and submit reports on production, quality, and other key metrics to management.
    • Assist in budgeting and cost control measures within the machine shop.
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership.
    • Other related duties may be assigned by leadership

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a machine shop environment, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of Universal Turning Centers, Universal five axis Mills and Swiss screw machines.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, tools, and equipment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Ability to use and understand precision measuring instruments and quality control techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in using computer systems and software related to manufacturing and production management.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the machine shop for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and move materials and equipment as required.
  • Manual dexterity and the ability to handle small components and tools.

Work Environment:

  • The machine shop supervisor will work primarily in a manufacturing environment, with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Compensation:

Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000 per year. Salary is determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
