Job Description:

POSITION TITLE: Student Employee, Health and Public Services

STATUS: Part-time

DEPARTMENT: Health and Public Services

DIVISION: Academic Affairs

REPORTS TO: Audrey Finkel

CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt

MINIMIUM PAY RATE: $14.00 per hour

(Position is FWS Eligible)

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Familiarize self with inventory and clean laboratory and classroom equipment as needed.
2. Support department recruitment activities.
3. Assist instructors, clinical coordinators and equipment specialists when and where needed.
4. Assist coordinators and instructors in tasks including but not limited to assembling equipment, filing, scanning, copying, collating, shredding, and data-entry; observe all privacy and security regulations required of student workers.
5. Provided limited support for HPS programs on Romeoville campus.
6. Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. In addition to meeting college-wide enrollment and GPA requirements for student workers, must be actively enrolled in a JJC HPS program (CYBIT, DMS, EMS, FSCI, HIM, LENF, MA, OPT, PCT, PLS, RADT, RESP), or have experience in related medical or public safety fields.
2. Ability to use or learn to use basic medical equipment, public safety equipment, simple tools, cleaning supplies, office equipment, and other typical HPS-related or college-related equipment.
3. Follow both verbal and written instructions.

4. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Current major in an HPS degree or certificate program with minimum GPA of 3.0.
2. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.

3. Demonstrated multicultural competence.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
* Working with large and small medical equipment, office equipment, public safety equipment, hand tools - also reaching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling.

WORKING CONDITIONS
* Duties primarily indoors but may be performed outdoors for certain public safety programs.

This is a student employee position that works around your class schedule. May work up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. During summer and holiday breaks (Winter/Spring), may work up to 28 hours per week with supervisor approval.
