Job Summary: The Educator-Clinical Nutrition demonstrates advanced clinical expertise in practice, and conducts well planned, organized, and relevant competency-based department orientation and educational programs, for new and existing staff, to enrich skills and enhance effectiveness. Provides leadership in the educational process, and transformation of care, with emphasis on quality care and best practices. Orients new dietitian staff hires and facilitates a smooth transition into the department workforce and practice setting. Collaborates with members of the leadership team to identify and address learning needs of staff in a cost-effective manner. Serves as a resource and subject matter expert for clinical nutrition services. These services may be provided for all LLUCH hospital and clinics. Audits dietitians' notes in the electronic medical record (EMR) and coaches on areas of improvement. Performs other duties as needed. Education and Experience: Master's Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or Nutrition-related field is required. If Registered Dietitian (RD) certification was obtained prior to January 1, 2024, Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or Nutrition-related field is required, Master's Degree in Nutrition is preferred. Three years of clinical nutrition experience required. Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of clinical nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, advanced practice (nutrition support), scope of practice, adult and child learning principles, and evidenced based standards of practice. Knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements for The Joint Commission (TJC), Title 22, Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services (CMS), etc. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Computrition, Electronic Medical Record (EMR), and be able to operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Ability to travel to offsite facilities when needed. Able to inspire teamwork and collaboration with others. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, delegate and collaborate; accept direction. Ability to work with limited supervision; ability to execute duties in an efficient manner. Sets goals and works independently, and effectively. Recall information with accuracy, pays close attention to details. Able to hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position. Able to train staff and students in a manner that encourages learning, understanding, and growth. Provide constructive criticism and develop and promote a nurturing environment for learning. Holding staff accountable and following up in a timely manner when corrective action is needed. Licensures and Certifications: Certification from the Commission on Dietetic registration required. Board Specialist Certification required such as: CDE (Certified Diabetes Educator), CNSC (certified Nutrition Support Clinician), CSR (certified specialist in renal nutrition), CSO (certified specialist in oncology nutrition), CSG (certified specialist in geriatric nutrition), CSOWM (certified specialist in Obesity & Weight Management), RDN-AP (Advanced Practitioner Certification).
