Distribution Center Information Sheet
The General Manager (GM) serves as the leader of supply chain operations in a specific distribution center. This individual is responsible for executing safe and effective operations that meet the needs of the organization and its employees. The GM will lead a workforce of ~500 team members distributing goods to Academy stores in various locations.
Job Description:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or other relevant field or equivalent years of work experience required.
Work Experiences:
- At least seven years of warehouse management experience required
- Demonstrated success in operations and people leadership
- Experience managing budget and P&L
Skills:
- Strong aptitude to think critically, solve problems and drive improvements in a professional and respectful manner
- Strong knowledge of production and inventory control theories and practices
- Functional knowledge and expertise in distribution center operations, inbound/outbound logistics and warehousing
- Experience with P&L
- Demonstrated experience and success in delivering on KPIs
- Knowledge of and ability to drive compliance to safety standards, quality specifications and governmental requirements
- Exceptional organization, attention to detail and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Powerpoint; experience with RF Warehouse Management Systems
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing all aspects of the DC's financial, operational, people, process and service objectives to drive results and alignment to long range plan
- Interact with business partners to drive results and deliver solutions including Supply Chain, Stores, Merchandising, Finance, Human Resources and Loss Prevention
- Manage all DC equipment and facilities maintenance programs
- Drive innovation and process improvement in all areas of DC operations aligned to the organization's long range plan
- Responsible for managing DC safety initiatives and programs and upholding safety standards
- Other duties as assigned and valued by executive leadership
Physical Requirements & Attendance
- Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays, as needed
- Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties
- Adhere to company work hours, policies, procedures and rules governing professional staff behavior
