Structural Racism & Health Equity Tutor

Description

The Structural Racism and Health Equity Tutor will work
closely with the Structural Racism and Health Equity Theme Chairs, the
Associate Dean for Curricular Affairs, and the Curricular Affairs Office to
review all curricular materials for signs of bias and to suggest integration of
anti-racist teachings and principles to faculty responsible for delivery of
content. In this role, you will also facilitate small group discussions with
medical students and assess students' written reflections on structural
determinants of health topics.

are the standards to which we hold ourselves, and one another.

Salary Range: $18.00 - $38.50 Hourly

Qualifications

Required:

  • Students should be
    in good academic standing and will have successfully completed at least
    first-year coursework of medical school.

  • Well-versed and
    comfortable with identifying and addressing how structural racism manifests in
    medical education, clinical practice, and society, as well as its implications
    for community health and well-being.

  • Knowledgeable about
    key concepts including structural versus social determinants of health, racial
    capitalism, history of medical experimentation, race-based medicine, race as a
    social construct.

  • Skills to work
    directly with medical students and faculty on ways to eliminate and address
    issues related to structural racism in the curriculum.

  • Low-income, first
    generation, and underrepresented minority students are encouraged to apply.

Preferred:

  • Prior demonstrated
    commitment to organizing for racial justice at DGSOM.
