DEPARTMENT: Kahului Corps POSITION TITLE: Family Services/Administrative Assistant SUPERVISOR: Corps Officer FLSA STATUS: Non- exempt / Full Time JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible all aspects of The Salvation Army Family Services at the Kahului Corps and serve as the administrative assistant to the Corps Officers, which includes human resource duties for The Salvation Army Maui County. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS * AA degree in social services or high school graduate with minimum 2 years' experience in the field of social service or similar preferred. * Hold a valid driver's license in good standing. * Must be a self-starter with the ability to work and accomplish duties with minimal supervision. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Lead, manage and direct all aspects of the Family Service office of the Kahului Corps * Schedule and interview clients to determine needs and eligibility of our social service programs related to Family Services for both financial and material needs. * Oversee the food pantry, schedule food distribution days and times and lead the distribution of food and commodities as scheduled * Assist the Corps officers with Christmas Social Services programs including the Angel Tree program, food and toy drives, Holiday drive distribution, and Holiday community meals * Work with families to identify youth who may be eligible to attend TSA summer camps in Oahu. Take applications, get required information and oversee transport to and from camp. * Oversee, manage and implement the Back-to-School program, including the purchase and/or acquisition of supplies through GIK donation * Manage and upkeep employee payroll, including time exception reports and leave of absence forms. * Maintain all employee and volunteer files, process and submit Human Resource documents according to TSA policy in a timely manner * Be knowledgeable with the TSA Employee Handbook guidelines and policies, including how it relates to Hawaii and Federal labor laws. * Help ensure employees and/or volunteers that drive TSA vehicles are current with required annual Summit training and MVR checks. Coordinate with DHQ HR.
