The Salvation Army Mission Statement:

BASIC PURPOSE
Provide Child Care during Sunday Church Services and during weekly Corps Programs
Be present during rental of the rooms in the building, such as gym, chapel, classroom rentals, etc., and to provide day-to-day supervision and leadership care for youth ages 6 - 12 years old. Team leaders will be given a schedule of weekly activities and will be responsible for teaching and utilizing program resources of the Corps Community Center. The goals of the program are to instruct, guide and support children in their daily activities (crafts, PE, games, etc.)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide Child Care for all ages
2. Be present during building rentals to assist with basic needs and lock building, turn off air and close and lock doors and gates after rentals
3. Assist with planning and implementation of daily program and lesson assignments which will meet the needs of the children in attendance
4. Collaborate and assist volunteers in designing and implementing activities
5. Monitor individuals or small groups in a variety of settings
6. Implement instructional learning activities for the purpose of improving student's academic, physical and social skills
7. Seeing that continuous supervision is provided for the children assigned to his or her team, with priority of protecting the health and safety of the children, providing enjoyable and educational learning experience, and promoting knowledge of and commitment to God.
8. Encouraging children participation in all prescribed aspects of the program, seeing that the team functions according to daily program schedule and in accordance with standard operational procedures
9. Set and enforce rules for the team which ensure safety, enjoyment, education, and socialization for the campers
10. Lead and/or assist in learning time and learning activities.
11. Spend time with, befriend, and interact with all kids assigned to your team and in other teams to foster a quality experience in accordance with the stated goals of The Salvation Army's program
12. Be an appropriate and effective example for both campers and staff members.
13. Report any suspected child abuse issues to Director immediately, as well as to any mandated authorities.
14. Assist the Corps Officers (Administrators) in any other duties as requested, in order to maintain a consistently high level of efficiency in the operation of the community center and family service office.
15. Conduct daily set-up and clean-up as assigned.
16. Attend and participate in daily staff meetings as directed by the Program Director.
17. Assist with the planning and implementation of Day Camp programs to include all educational, craft, recreational, leisure and meal/snack activities.
18. Monitor activities and provide supervision in all Day Camp program areas.
19. Follow all safety health guidelines for COVID-19 sanitation and boundaries (Will enforce this with the kids as well)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
1. Must be at least 21 years of age
2. Must have general skills in working with children (Experience in supervising and monitoring kids is preferred)
3. Must have an interest and passion for working with kids
4. Able to communicate effectively with children, community center staff, peers, and parents of kids attending.
5. Must be a self-motivated individual with the ability to see what needs to be done and to follow through until completed.
6. Must be willing to be a positive role model for kids and hold to the rules and guidelines set in place.
7. Must be willing to follow all Salvation Army procedures and guidelines (This includes training on The Salvation Army's Protecting The Mission program, which is required for all employees working with and around youth). Must be willing to implement The Salvation Army's mission as stated in the mission statement.
8. Must be willing to obtain health and safety training.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must be 21 years or older.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
2. Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects
3. Ability to reach overhead
4. Ability to operate telephone
5. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. for administrative positions
6. Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer
7. Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information
9. Ability to access and produce information from a computer
10. Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools PC, Fax Machine, Telephone, Calculator, Copier, and Printer.
