BASIC PURPOSE The purpose of this position is to direct the Booth Memorial Child Development Center, providing on-going leadership, staff supervision, and overall instruction and care for the children by performing the following: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work closely with the officers to promote and implement Christian component between the center and the corps program in the effort to meet all aspect of human need.
- Keep the center fully enrolled and each family contract up to date for inspection from licensing.
- Report to the Administration regularly regarding the programs progress.
- Evaluate effectiveness of overall program. You are responsible for the care and safety of the children in the childcare center. Be able to identify a potentially harmful situation and make corrections. Arrange medical attention for an ill or injured child. Make sure teachers are trained in all emergency procedures (i.e.,fire drills)
- Study the program and develop immediate and long-range plans to improve the quality of the program. Develop and coordinate special programs such as graduation and the Christmas program.
- Develop and implement a plan to add new Infant Care program for up to 12 infants, and expand CCTR Toddler program by up to 12 slots.
- Hold quarterly parents meeting to discuss issues with the parents. You are responsible to appoint a parent chairperson for those meeting.
- Work closely with teachers to develop quality lesson plans and to order materials needed. Be involved in discipline procedures for inappropriate behavior. Provide on in-service days.
- Keep monthly reports, forms and budgets up to date. Administer the Child Development Center in accordance with the funding and program proposal submitted to the State Department of Education (funding source.) Ensure compliance with policies of the same. Relate directly to the Department of Education in matters pertaining to the center.
- Review and summit employee timecards each Monday morning
- Review and approve menu plans submitted by the cook. Give shopping list to administration. Ensure CACFP compliance at all times.
- Perform classroom duties as needed during an absence of a regular teacher or other staff member.
- Serve as Liaise to Mills College, Merritt College. The School District-workability program-Cal-Works- City of Oakland, Kidango and all other partners to ensure smoothness of operations and with all other partners working with the Child development Center.
- Complete monthly, quarterly and annual reports required by CA Department of Education CSPP State Pre-School Program and Dept of Social Services General ChildCare CCTR programs.
- In the case of absence, fill out the proper paperwork and forward to the administration accountant,
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring (with the approval from Command Finance Council and Administration), training and reviews of staff at the end of the probation period and annually.
- Responsible for conference reports and warning for staff who are not fulfilling their job requirements. Final authorization for termination must be given by Divisional Finance Council and administration. Follow all Del Oro HR Guidelines for staff.
- Coordinate paperwork and program for Alameda County First Five Program QRIS Funding.
- Assist Administration and officers with annual Continued Funding Applications and other applications for funding as requested.
- Attend monthly meetings of the Garden Street Advisory Council. Attend meetings of the Alameda County Advisory Board as requested.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
- Associates Degree from an accredited or approved college or university with a major or emphasis in early childhood development or education including 24 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units.
- Three years of related experience in the field of childcare, including one year of Site Supervisor experience.
- Applicant must have at least three semester or equivalent quarter units of education in Administration or staff relations.
- Must have a current and valid site supervisor permit.
- Teaching permit preferential.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
- Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects.
- Ability to reach overhead.
- Ability to operate telephone.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to operate a computer.
- Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information.
- Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools.
- 10% travel required.
