POSITION TITLE: Sorter/Donation Processor

DEPARTMENT: Production

REPORTS TO: Production Supervisor/Director of Production

FLSA Status: Non-exempt (hourly)

General Statement
The Salvation Army is a branch of the Christian Church and the ultimate goal of all programs is a spiritual regeneration of all people.

A. BASIC PURPOSE
The Purpose of the Sorter/Donation Processor is to prepare donations for retail sale or salvage according to Salvation Army policy and production procedures.

B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Follow procedure as it pertains to sorting, cleaning, preparing, shipping and receiving donated items for sale
2. Keep donation area clean and without debris
3. Sorting donations of clothing, furniture, electrical and miscellaneous household items
4. Loading donations for truck delivery
5. Adhere to all safety policies as it pertains to loading and unloading of trucks
6. Follow all accident and injury reporting procedures
7. Maintain a clean and organized receiving and processing area
8. Determine which items are saleable, repairable or salvageable
9. Other duties as assigned
10. Adhere to proper dress code, with uniform as designated by direct Supervisor

C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Educational Requirements

1. High School diploma or General Education degree (GED): or one or two months of related job experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Must complete and follow all safety training requirements provided by immediate Supervisor.

To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform the essential duties with or without accommodation. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to
perform the essential functions of the position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift, bend and stoop.
Frequently the employee must walk, climb and/or balance. The employee must regularly lift and or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance peripheral, vision and depth perception.
