POSITION: Front Desk Clerk

DEPARTMENT: Oakland Garden St Shelter

LOCATION: Oakland, CA

SUPERVISOR: Renita Stewart

STATUS: Full Time - Monday-Friday- 8:00AM -4:30PM

BASIC PURPOSE

The Front Desk is responsible for the safety and security of those who are receiving services at The Oakland Garden Center. They will treat all individuals accessing services with dignity and respect while enforcing our policies and procedures. They will provide crisis intervention, information, and referral s of services to individual and clients seeking services. Any special or unusual concern is to be brought to the immediate attention of the case worker or Supervisor/Officer Staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES




  1. Maintain ongoing professional relationships in all clients (note confidentiality and professional guidelines requirements)
  2. Provide security and safety of the facility and shelter Screen all visitors from the intercom before entering the facility.
  3. Know and enforce all facility rules, guidelines, and
  4. Maintain all program materials in an appropriate
  5. Attend all staff meetings as assigned.
  6. Must always remain awake while on the job for the safety and security of the clients and
  7. Log pertinent information in a timely
  8. Regular and punctual attendance is
  9. Maintaining janitorial duties which will include (maintain front office area and garbage duties).
  10. Perform basic data entry with special attention to detail and
  11. Provide administrative and program support to case management staff



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:




  1. Must be able to comprehend assignments and/or ask for additional information or clarification until the assignment is understood.
  2. May require long periods of sitting at a desk using a personal computer, telephone and interacting with clients. Must be able to walk, sit, stand, bend, on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Must occasionally life and move up to 25 lbs.
  3. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, hand or feel objects, tools, or controls; to talk or hear; reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. As the nature of the position requires you to be attentive to the world around you, personal cell phones and electronics are prohibited from use during your shift.
  4. Works on multiple simultaneous projects in an environment characterized by interruptions and noise from ringing telephones, printers, copiers, walk-in traffic, multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
  5. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and be comfortable working with a high degree of independence. May be required to make independent decisions that may involve unique or unusual situations and/or complex issues and dealing with demanding requests or timelines.
