Job Description Summary:

The Tailored Systems Business Area within the Electronics Program Office directorate delivers first-of-a-kind field-ready microelectronics solutions in support of National Security missions. The Draper team is chartered with supporting the Nation's most challenging problems by 1) providing an iterative and agile approach to innovative and creative technical solutions delivered at the speed of mission and 2) driving leading edge technology development efforts to support future mission needs. This role will support a large multi-disciplinary team as part of a long-standing, fast-paced contract with history of immense success. Draper is seeking a senior-level process engineer for a role focused on die level electronics packaging. The individual in this role will meet the rising need for advanced systems development and packaging to address the challenges involved with highly integrated hardware that meet shrinking form-factors and increasing thermal loads. Draper's process engineers leverage stat-of-the-art capabilities to implement 2.5D advanced packaging techniques for the integration of microelectronic devices into System in Package (SiP) or Multichip Module (MCM) technologies.

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities
* Use Computer Aided Design (CAD) programs to create product concepts.
* Gather materials or resources needed to design the product.
* Test the product for usability and safety.
* Oversee the manufacturing and production process to set standards
* Drive solutions to complex problems with limited direction - contribute to requirements development, propose ways forward, and adapt appropriately to changes in requirements.
* Provide insight and suggest design or process modifications based on quantitative data or results.
* Identify program/system-level technical risks and develop and execute mitigation strategies.
* Actively mentor less experienced engineers and provide thoughtful, constructive feedback.

* Collaborate and communicate effectively and openly with multi-disciplinary program team members, program leadership, and non-technical personnel.

Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant field.

Experience
5-7 years experience in Product Engineering or related.

Additional Job Description:

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop and mature novel processes for die level assembly such as automated dispense, precision placement, wire bonding, encapsulation, and hermetic packaging
  • Contribute to solving complex, customer-driven problems as part of a multi-disciplinary team and adapt appropriately to changes in requirements
  • Work with project leadership to establish build schedules for various product lines that will be running concurrently
  • Work closely with design engineers to ensure that package designs can be assembled in a reliable manner when it comes time to build
  • Communicate effectively and openly with a multi-disciplinary program team members and program leadership, including non-technical personnel
  • Define an approach to independently solve technical problems and execute assignments with minimal oversight while maintaining program schedule and budget
  • Create and maintain process documents that will be followed by operators

Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve program goals
  • Exposure to statistical analysis software such JMP or Minitab to create and execute design of experiments
  • Familiarity with failure analysis techniques to establish root cause and prevent future failures
  • Experience using MES systems for process flow tracking

Security Clearance:

  • Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

  • Current in scope Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility is required.
