Job Description Summary:

The Inspector B as part of the Draper team in Cambridge, MA., will perform inspections on a variety of materials, components, assemblies, and/or systems. Types of inspections include visual, workmanship, dimensional, and electrical. Must be able to use and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and work to inspection procedures. Must be able to follow and execute to verbal and written instructions. Documents work results and generates inspectionreports. Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel. Comply with safety and security rules and observes good housekeeping practices. Accomplish assignments with minimum direct supervision.

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections on a variety of materials, components, assemblies, and/or systems.
  • Document work results and generates inspectionreports.
  • Types of inspections include visual, workmanship, dimensional, and electrical.
  • Documents work results and generates inspection reports.
  • Complies with safety and security rules and observes good housekeeping practices.
  • Accomplishes assignments with minimum direct supervision.
  • For Mechanical Inspection* Microscopes. micrometers, gage blocks, pin gauges, comparators, surface plates, height gages, rotary tables, coordinate measuring machines, and roundness and surface analysis equipment.
  • For ElectricalInspection* Oscilloscopes, Capacitance/impedance bridges, power supplies, and microscopes.

Skills:

  • Able to use and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and work to inspection procedures.
  • Able to follow and execute to verbal and written instructions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel.

Education:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent, plus two yearsof technical schooling related to engineering, science and/or mathematics. The two years of schooling may be satisfiedthrough one ofthe following:
  • An associate's degree in an engineering or science program OR five college credit technical courses in the area of engineering, science, and/or mathematics.
  • One college level writing class can be counted toward the five courses.
  • Quality Inspector Certification (CQI) from the American Society of Quality (ASQ).

Experience:

  • For employee who satisfy the Education requirement, a minimum of 4 years' experience is required in a quality assurance organization performing tasks related to the inspection of either mechanical or electrical commodities.
  • For employee who do not satisfy the Education requirements, a minimum of four years of experience is required in a quality assurance organization performing tasks related to the inspection of either mechanical or electronic components.
  • Typical Mechanical Commodities* Mechanical stampings, moldings, castings, threaded components, sheet metal parts, and bearings.
  • Typical Electrical Commodities* electronic components, printed wiring boards, circuit card assemblies, wafer die, MCM/MEMS products, harness, connectors, or other electro* mechanical assemblies.
