Job Description Summary:

As an Inspector A (Elec), you are responsible for performing inspections and/or audits of purchased parts, materials, equipment and quality control programs. Interprets manufacturing drawings, diagrams, specifications and lists to approve or reject units or systems for in-process or final assemblies. You would perform sampling and testing of incoming components and raw materials. Ensures raw materials, in-process, and finished products meet company standards. Determines or assists in determining methods and procedures necessary for inspection.

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities
* Performs inspections on a variety of materials, components, assemblies, and systems. Types of inspections include visual, workmanship, dimensional, and electrical.
* Generates and/or revises inspection procedures and associated flows.
* Performs source inspections at off-site facilities.
* Identifies problem areas and bottlenecks and assists in resolution.
* Documents work results and generates inspection reports. Generates procedures to ensure work is performed in a consistent manner.
* Complies with safety and security rules and observes good housekeeping practices.
* Assists and trains lower grade personnel toward achievement of inspection tasks. Includes training of new hires to department and lab policies.
* Accomplishes assignments independent of supervision.

Typical equipment used includes
Oscilloscopes, Capacitance/Impedance bridges, power supplies, and microscopes.

Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel.
  • Good time management, planning/organization, and decision-making skills.
  • Able to use and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and work to inspection procedures.
  • Able to follow and execute to verbal and written instructions.

Education
High school diploma or its equivalent, plus two years of technical schooling related to engineering, science, and/or mathematics.

The two years of technical schooling may be satisfied by one of the following:
* An associate's degree in an engineering or science program.
* Five college credit technical courses in the area of engineering, science, and/or mathematics. One college level writing class can be counted toward the five courses.
* Quality Inspector Certification (CQI) from the American Society for Quality (ASQ).

Experience
A minimum of five years of experience is required in a quality assurance organization performing tasks related to the inspection of mechanical and/or electronic commodities. Included in this experience is certification or a demonstrated working knowledge of the applicable industry and/or military standards associated with the quality of electronics and/or mechanical commodities. This includes but is not limited to soldering, welding, crimping, cross-sectional analysis, and wiring/cabling

Typical Electronic Inspection Commodities

Electronic components, printed wiring boards, circuit card assemblies, wafer die, MCM/MEMs products, harnesses, connectors, or other electro-mechanical assemblies.
