GENERAL PURPOSE
The Laundry Finisher works interchangeably as a member of a two (2) or more worker team to shake out laundry, feed ironer, fold clean and/or damp articles, and pack for distribution to various Gracedale departments and stations.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
This position reports directly to the Laundry Manager and/or other higher level management as designated.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
This position is not responsible for the supervision of other employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION
Sorts washed laundry to separate articles for next phase of processing.
Assists in loading and unloading of drying tumblers.
Feeds machine and monitors multiple devices in order to ensure correct air pressure, steam pressure, and temperature.
Feeds articles onto feeder belt for transportation into the machine.
Smooths and straightens edges of articles. Guides articles to prevent wrinkles, as they are pulled under rollers and overheated section of machine that presses and dries them.
Shakes out and feeds large articles, such as bed sheets and bed spreads into ironer. This requires a two-person team.
Operates pressing forms and mechanical folders.
Receives small articles as they roll from ironer. Folds, sorts, and stacks small articles on table or in carts.
Catches end of large articles, such as sheets or drapes. Folds large articles appropriately to fit laundry wagon or storage shelves. This requires a two-person team.
Examines articles for stains, tears, or other imperfections and routes to washroom and/or linen room if rewashing or mending is required.
Accomplishes light housekeeping chores to maintain clean and safe conditions in laundry department.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE - Any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience, which has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities cited below; AND
Must complete Feeding Program training.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS - Applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and present valid proof of vaccinated status, in order to be eligible for hire at Gracedale Nursing Home. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), people are considered fully vaccinated two (2) weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series (such as Pfizer or Moderna vaccines), or two (2) weeks after a single-dose vaccine (such as Johnson & Johnson's Janssen vaccine).
Upon hire employee must have a drug screening and COVID-19 testing. Employees may also be periodically tested for COVID-19 as required or recommended. In addition, Gracedale Nursing Home will follow The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements with regard to booster(s) needed for workers in health care settings.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
Dryers with 150 pound and 400 pound capacity, mangler for ironing, and a folding machine.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than fifty (50) pounds.
