The Clinical Lead - Ultrasound is responsible for providing administrative and clinical oversight of the Ultrasound department.

Job Relationships

Reports to the Advanced Imaging Operations Manager.

Principal Responsibilities



  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to maintain high quality imaging across the practice.
  • Coordinate monthly department meetings with managers and technologists.
  • Leadership in all areas related to the Ultrasound department.
  • Schedule patients within accreditation guidelines.
  • Recommend equipment purchases; coordinate with vendors to identify new packages and products available to the Clinic.
  • Provide input into performance evaluations.
  • Train and mentor new Ultrasound technologists and students.
  • Assure Ultrasound staff are compliant with established policies and procedures. Address identified issues and consult with the Operations Manager to achieve necessary actions.
  • Coordinate with the Ultrasound Operations Manager on issues related to staff retention and recruitment.
  • Participate in educational activities.
  • Perform or delegate all duties as defined in the Ultrasound Technologist position.
  • Responsible for equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies.
  • Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
  • Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
  • Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.


Education/Experience



  • Minimum of two to three (2-3) years' experience in Diagnostic Ultrasound
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Ultrasound program


Licenses/Certificates



  • Must maintain current registration with ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography)
  • CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within 30 days of hire.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Communicates highly sensitive information to physicians and administration in a professional manner.
  • Must be able to perform diagnostic Ultrasound exams.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
