The Assistant Clinical Coordinator - BMT Intake is the primary point of contact for patients, families, caregivers, and referring providers when scheduling a patient for blood or marrow transplant. In this role, the assistant clinical coordinator:

    Works in a fast-paced, dynamic healthcare environment within one or more departments.
  • Participates in care coordination with other internal healthcare professionals and community providers to facilitate timely treatment and care for patients.
  • Collaborates to promote access to care at Fred Hutch.
  • Collaborates with others within and outside the organization to provide patient care that is safe, timely, efficient and effective.


Responsibilities

  • Triage calls from referring physicians, patients, family members, and others wishing to access care at Fred Hutch
  • Requests medical records from referring physicians and outside institutions, reviews them for content and completeness, and organizes them into designated categories for clinician review
  • Schedules and coordinates patients' appointments
  • Collects and enters patient demographic and insurance information and enters into registration databases
  • Assists with the financial clearance process as necessary
  • Receives and responds to patient feedback
  • Responds to other patient requests as appropriate Distributes work to the Patient Care Coordinator Assistant I or II as appropriate


Qualifications

Required:

  • Must be a graduate of a Physicians Asst. training program., appropriate Nurse Practioner, or a registered nurse - able to practice in the state of Washington (licensed); BA or BS
  • Licensed in State of Washington as PA-C, ARNP or RN
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a patient care setting preferred
  • Oncology (leukemia, lymphoma, hematological malignancy) or BMT experience strongly preferred.
  • Must have at least 2 years of previous experience in a clinical care setting.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required.
  • Basic computer skills are essential.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to establish, maintain and enjoy long-term relationships with patients undergoing intense therapy.
  • Intense attention to detail is essential.

Preferred:

  • Experience with an electronic medical record system, (such as ORCA or Epicare)

The hourly pay range for this position is from $51.70 to $81.71 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
