SUMMARY

The Court Reporting Network (CRN) Evaluator is responsible for administering the

CRN evaluation to all defendants charged with DUI. The Evaluator's duties include interviewing the defendant, gathering all pertinent information, and compiling the defendant's responses in the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's (PennDOT) automated database. The results of this prescreen assessment tool will determine if further drug and alcohol assessment is required. The CRN Evaluator is responsible for scheduling and instructing Alcohol Highway Safety School (AHSS) for all defendants charged with DUI. This person must obtain CRN and AHSS certifications through the Pennsylvania Driving Under the Influence Association (PaDUI Association). Montgomery County averages 2500 DUI arrests annually.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for interviewing and obtaining all pertinent information on each defendant; document all information in the Commonwealth's database in order to meet PA DUI Association mandates; maintain documentation in the department's case management system;
  • Responsible for accurately interpreting the results and properly explaining the recommendation to the defendant;
  • Required to obtain and maintain all necessary certifications in accordance with PA DUI Association regulations;
  • Required to conduct CRN evaluations and teach Alcohol Highway Safety School (AHSS);
  • Foster an environment which promotes diversity, equity and inclusion;
  • Frequent contact (by phone and in person) with the public, County departments, other government agencies and vendors. The task will be completed in a professional manner in order to represent the department in a positive way;
  • Knowledge of the PA DUI Association standards;
  • May be required to work nontraditional hours to include nights and weekends;
  • Perform additional duties, tasks and special projects as required.

  • Bachelor's Degree required;
  • Bilingual preferred;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong time management and organizational skills;
  • Some knowledge of Criminal Justice System, Mental Health Diagnoses, and Substance Use Disorder;
  • Professionalism and a commitment to treating people with dignity and respect;
  • Must be able to work nontraditional hours;
  • Undergo thorough pre-employment background investigation including satisfactory; physical examination and drug screen.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception. This position will require long periods of sitting at a desk with a person computer. The staff member will be in regular contact with offenders and the public that may present exposure to communicable diseases.
