What You'll Do:

Summary of Position: Produce detailed drawings for internal fabrication shops and steel erectors. The CAD Technician prepares detailed plans, drawings, and other documents for the fabrication and erection of steel members (columns, beams, braces, conveyors, trusses, stairs, handrails, walkways, chutework, etc.) used in the construction and maintenance of VMC processing plants, and various support structures.

Champion Safety. Work with relevant project or design engineers to ensure that all detailed designs are safe and fully comply with the appropriate design and local codes.

Develop. Prepare approval, construction, and shop drawings for projects with the use of AutoCAD, Inventor, And Fusion360. Support the Designers and Engineers. Provide detailed drawings to meet project needs and timeline. Incorporate design concepts and best practices into your detailed plans.

Collaborate. Work with designers, project managers, and construction personnel to detail desired construction methods. Make changes to detailed plans based on collaboration with the project team to ensure that projects are completed in a cost effective and timely manner.

Document Control. Must comply with the requirements of the design drawings and with all company standards and protocols. Maintain and organize the department's electronic drawing files. Provide support in editing standards and/or company procedures that relate to detailing.

Quality Control. Accurately complete and check all necessary fabrication drawings, shop details and Bill of Materials. Accurately check design and detail work completed by others (internal or external).

Manage. Insure accurate and timely completion of drawings. Meet deadlines on a regular basis while maintaining a high level of accuracy and quality and while managing multiple projects.

Travel. On occasion, travel to sites to take necessary field measurements to ensure accuracy of project details.

Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.

Skills You'll Need:

Education. Technical school training in CAD (Computer Aided Design) or significant CAD work experience is required.

Experience. Must have a thorough working knowledge of and experience with AutoCAD. Experience with Fusion, Inventor, or other 3-D design software is preferred. Experience with Vulcan and/or the aggregate industry is preferred.

Technology Skills. Must have CAD skills sufficient to produce designs in AutoCAD. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to learn 3D CAD, design programs, and basic productivity programs (Excel, Word) with minimal training.

Design Skills. Thorough knowledge of design specifications and practices, building codes, and the equipment utilized within the Company's plants is preferred.

Communication Skills. Must have the ability to operate and communicate in a predominantly computer-oriented environment. Must be able to communicate and work in a team environment.
