Responsibilities 1.Clinical responsibilities of this position include: Attending on trauma service weeks, SICU weeks, EGS service weeks and in-house, weeknight and weekend trauma/ICU/EGS surgery call, elective general surgery practice including elective clinics, operating room blocks, outreach, and program development, inpatient general surgery consultations. 2.Physicians at Denver Health are faculty members of the University of Colorado School of Medicine serve as teachers for students seeking clinical experience at Denver Health and provide education for post graduate medical trainees. 3.Focus on superior patient care by: practicing evidence-based, high-quality state-of-the art medicine, encourage increased patient understanding, involvement in care, and treatment decisions, achieve and maintain optimal patient access, insist on departmental focus on superior patient service, participate in or support education and research. 4.Collaborate on care delivery by: including staff, other physicians and management in both service and patient care improvements, treat all members with respect, demonstrate the highest levels of ethical and professional conduct, and behave in a manner consistent with Denver Health goals. 5.Listen and communicate by: providing clinical information in a clear and timely manner, requesting information and resources needed to provide care consistent with Denver Health goals, provide and accept feedback in a respectful manner from all staff. 6.Take ownership by, providing leadership to improve outcomes quality and service quality, work to ensure personal, departmental and organization compliance with all legal and educational requirements, steadily improve the efficiency and economic aspects of your practice. 7.Quality metrics: Focus on clinically relevant outcome measures, Change by embracing innovations to continuously improve patient care, service and organizational efficiency. 8.Abide by the Medical Staff bylaws and conduct oneself in a professional and collegial manner in all aspects of work. Education and Experience 1.Graduation from an Accredited Medical School and completed Accredited Residency Programs and fellowships for specialist, or equivalent. Two year surgical critical care & trauma and acute care surgery fellowship preferred. 2. Board Certification or Board Eligibility in 1) General Surgery and 2) Surgical Critical Care. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1.Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures and techniques. 2.Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment. 3.Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care. 4.Able to receive detailed information through oral communications; express or exchange ideas by verbal communications. 5.Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills. 6.Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems. 7.Performs in a tactful and professional manner. 8.A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. 9.Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
