Data Analyst

Title: Data Analyst

Location: Local to Chicago, IL 60604 and has to be onsite 3 days per week

Duration: 6 months with a strong possibility of extension or a year-long contract (depending on approval).

Description:

This position requires extensive and practical experience with Data Analysis and Decision Science. The Data Analyst will be responsible for using their knowledge of data processing software and business development strategies to provide sound business decisions. Their duties include collaborating with other data professionals to extract data figures, creating reports based on their findings, and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to determine business initiatives' success.

Responsibilities/Day to Day:

- Work with leaders to identify opportunities for improvement

- Create reports for internal teams

- Collaborate with team members to collect and analyze data

- Use graphs, infographics and other methods to visualize data

- Establish KPIs to measure the effectiveness of business decisions

- Structure large data sets to find usable information

- Work with a team of analysts and other associates to process information

- Create presentations and reports based on recommendations and findings

- Builds analytical data sets, including development of programs for the extraction and transformation of data across multiple platforms, including mainframe

- Assists with documentation - takes down technical specifications and documents them in detail

Must Haves:

- Minimum of 6 years of IT experience with at least 2 of those years focused on Data Analysis

- Familiarity with tools such as PowerBI and SQL clients

- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required

- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills are required

- Must be highly flexible and adaptable to change

- Strong documentation skills - able to take down technical specs and notate them in thorough detail

- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Educational/Experience Qualifications:

A College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience is required.

Additional Notes:

1. Is this more a data analyst? Someone with strong data analyst background with strong data analyst background with experience in SQL and Power BI for visualization? Yes it would, Power BI would not be required but would be advantageous.
2. 6 years of IT experience , with 2 years with a focus on data analysis, would a BA with a couple years with data analysis or full data analyst work?- Yes.
3. Confirming , this person will be sitting DT in Wabash for all 3 days, and Naperville is not an option?- Yes.
4. Safe to assume, they are working on same project as the Data Architect, but more day to day working with data analysis and supporting the data arc with this?-Yes, same project.
5. Anything that disqualifies a candidate, or consider overqualified? - Someone with experience of 10+ years of Power BI and Incorta, would seem overqualified. If they have no background or experience in data for data analysis, if there is no using tools of Power Point or Excel or can't/hasn't presented data information- this would be a nonstarter.
6. This person main responsibility will be to pull data, create different visualizations and presentations for different stakeholders for the data received?- Yes, and when they say pull data, that depends on where they are on the project- may need to do validation work, pulling data under direction of course.
7. Security information security skills, compliance knowledge? - Not required, but would be advantageous experience having worked in that space, having understood these concepts. A lot of information is around user accounts, privileged access, having that conceptually is an advantage.
8. Is Incorta required?-Not necessary for data analyst/strong BA position.
9. What are the top 3 skillsets for this BA?- Strong experience with SQL queries, Power Point, being able to communicate, articulate, being able to provide narrative for data they have been able to conclude and analyze
10. BA know SQL?- Not required, strong advantage.
