Major Duties
Classification: Non-Exempt / Non-Bargaining We're growing! At Consolidated Communications, we serve business and residential customers across a 23-state area, providing advanced communications solutions across our fiber-rich network. We offer a wide range of services including commercial solutions for businesses of all sizes with our Data & Internet, Voice, Managed & Hosted, Cloud Services and IT Services The Installation and Maintenance Technician will perform all work functions related to the installation, service, and maintenance of voice, and/or data equipment and services from the Central Office to business customer premises in all weather conditions. Platform for delivery of services may be Fiber or Copper network facilities and customer connections.
Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot and repair Commercial and Residential Customer Services both inside and outside plant. Services to include Internet, Data and Voice.
- Represent CCI with pride and professionalism, and always strive to provide a delightful customer experience at every opportunity.
- Certain aspects of the job are physical in nature. Working outdoors, aloft, climbing under or over obstacles are fundamental.
- A logical approach and technical aptitude are essential to learning and performing necessary functions on our fiber-based IP Network.
- Must be a self-starter, require little supervision and have the ability to apply common sense, experience, and theory towards problem solving and decision making.
- Must be a team player, ready to pitch in and be a part of the CCI solution.
- Must meet performance, efficiency and customer service metrics.
- Must be available to work some evenings, weekends and holidays on overtime based on business needs. Could be required to respond during emergency situations even when not on call.
- Participate in rotational "primary on-call" responsibility, accepting and responding to after-hours customer trouble reports and installation requirements.
- Adhere to company safety policies and practices. Attend required safety and training classes, and maintain a satisfactory safety record.
- Drive company vehicle to work site or other locations within service area including during inclement weather. Inspect assigned vehicle for fuel, maintenance and satisfactory operation. Fuel, clean and wash vehicle as needed.
- Report to work on time and maintains a satisfactory attendance record.
Qualifications
- Must be able to discern color coded cables and fiber optics.
- A motivation and ability to learn to use handheld devices and operate computer, tablet or test equipment. These can include signal level meters, ohm meters, handheld applications, a laptop computer and software
- Spend time standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, and using ladders and other related equipment. As well as lifting up to 75 pounds on occasion.
- HS diploma or GED. Two-year telecom or networking degree or 8 years equivalent experience.
- Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Demonstrated record of success.
- Strong customer service and organizational skills
- Understanding of a variety of consumer devices, such as smartphones, computers, TV, routers, modems, and wireless devices.

Salary
Pay range (commensurate with skills and experience): $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
