Summary

Saint Xavier University's History Department seeks one adjunct faculty member to teach two sections of United States History to 1877 (HIST 103). Please see below for the days and times of our 2024 fall course needs.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • United States History to 1877 is traditional lecture format, teaching in this context is required (i.e. it is not a hybrid or online course). The presentation of lecture materials and the assignment of relevant homework, in-class work, quizzes, exams, writing assignments, etc. are expected in some combination of the above. Instructors grade their own assignments and exams. To help structure the course, the use of Canvas is expected. Adjunct instructors must hold weekly office hours. All course instructors report to the Chair of the History Department.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have a MA/MS or equivalent degree in History from an accredited university. An earned PhD is preferred, ABD acceptable. Highly sought-after candidates will have evidence of experience teaching at the collegiate level. Experience at teaching introductory and developmental history courses is preferred. The days and times below are already scheduled and non-negotiable: United States History to 1877 (HIST 103), 2 Sections Tuesday/Thursday - 8:00AM to 9:20AM Tuesday/Thursday - 9:30AM to 10:50AM
