Academic Success and Bar Passage Administrative Support Specialist - Delaware Law School

Widener University is currently seeking an Academic Success and Bar Passage Administrative Support Specialist at Delaware Law School. Reporting to the Bar Programs Director and the Co-Directors of the Academic Success Program, this role will work in Student Affairs providing support primarily for Bar and Academic Success Programs. Duties will include helping to coordinate bar and academic success-related programming and services; processing and tracking attendance and other programmatic data; and advising students with respect to services, programs, and other support. The person in this role will also perform various duties as needed related to Student Affairs, such as connecting students with academic advisors, answering questions related to services and appointment scheduling, and helping with events.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):

Essential Duties:



  • Assist Bar and Academic Success Program directors with program and event planning and coordination
  • Work with the Bar Program directors to provide preliminary information relating to bar admission to international LLM students
  • Assist Bar Programs directors with maintaining bar class attendance records and assessment logistics
  • Provide guidance to students seeking to amend their law school applications to include character and fitness updates; maintain records relating to the updates
  • With guidance from program directors, create and publish a periodic newsletter for students with bar and academic success-related tips, as well as information about available services
  • Provide students who contact the office with information relating to academic success and bar preparation services; connect students with advisors as necessary
  • Interact professionally with a wide array of constituents, including students, faculty, administrators, alumni, attorneys, and judges
  • Assist with proofreading, duplication/printing, and dissemination of flyers and other documents
  • Work with other Student Affairs personnel to track office and program expenses and maintain financial records
  • Help to greet office visitors, answer their questions, and direct them to the appropriate office or resource
  • Assist with managing the Student Affairs/Academic Success study aid resource library


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (education/training and experience required)

Required:



  • Minimum 2 years of administrative support experience in a busy office environment
  • Associates degree or equivalent
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, flexibility, and adaptability
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task with exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite especially Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Aptitude and willingness to learn new technology systems, including but not limited to student information systems and learning management systems
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of team
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to work in an open office environment while helping to greet and assist office visitors
  • Ability to maintain sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment inclusive of students, faculty and staff of varying social economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic background.


Preferred:



  • Experience in customer service
  • Experience in Higher Education or a school office
  • Experience working with law students


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:



  • Some evening hours to accommodate evening student schedules (e.g. 2x per month work until 6:15 pm)
  • Ability to work at and attend some evening events
  • Ability to sit and work at computer for extended period of time
