About This Role:

The Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University invites applications for a full time, 12-month,Post-Doctoral fellow position.The position will be primarily focused on research (90%) with the remainder of the appointment as service/outreach.

This position will support the Applied Swine Nutrition team at Kansas State University (www.ksuswine.org). The position will be housed in the College of Veterinary Medicine, but routine collaboration with faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates within the Department of Animal Sciences and Industry will be involved.

This position is required to be performed on-site. Work is performed on employer premises or designated assignment location.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Ph.D. degree in veterinary, animal, or feed science, epidemiology, or related fields.
  • Demonstration of proficiency of conducting statistical analysis using R and/or SAS software.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • DVM or equivalent degree.
  • Experience conducting BSL-2 or BSL-3 research in a laboratory setting and/or live animal inoculation research using BSL-2 or BSL-3 pathogens.
  • Willingness and ability to effectively collaborate and communicate at multiple levels, with both internal and external partners, is critical.
  • Experience working with industry and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with production data management and applied statistics.
  • Demonstrated experience and capacity to establish research funding.
  • Demonstrated publication/communication of research results; particularly on swine health and/or nutrition, feed safety and research topics of importance to the swine industry.
  • Demonstrated experience with the commercial swine industry and demonstrated knowledge of contemporary nutrition/production/health challenges affecting swine producers.
