QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- DDS or DMD from a regionally accredited institution of higher education;
- Active license from the State of Florida
- Two years or more of full time experience working in a dental practice with chair side experience and dental office management;
- Ability to apply technology and innovative approaches in the laboratory/clinical setting;
- Recent industry experience working with contemporary strategies is highly desired;
- Knowledge of service learning practices and quality assurance program for patient care;
- Understanding of the CODA Accreditation Standards for Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene and SACS Accreditation Standards for A.S. Degree programs;
- Ability to implement a supportive student environment and to make students active partners in the teaching/learning process;
- Understanding of learning-styles theories;
- All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Delivery of high quality instruction in the dental clinic laboratory; classroom setting, or online formats;
- Implementation of multi-learning styles, theory lessons planning/curriculum development;
- Commitment to increasing student achievement through contextual and applied curriculum;
- Commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and teamwork
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instructing courses including lecture clinic, laboratory, and clinical rotations to meet the overall course objectives and program goals of the Dental Programs.
- Evaluating student outcome achievement using multiple methodologies and maintaining accurate student records.
- Maintaining and developing skills necessary to integrate and use technology effectively in the classroom and through various modes of delivery.
- Effectively communicating with other Dental personnel regarding the collaborative use of the IRSC Dental Clinic resources and any pertinent issues concerning the Dental Programs.
- Participating in a quality assurance program for the IRSC Dental Clinic.
- Maintaining adherence to accreditation standards and reporting requirements.
- Serving as a liaison between Indian River State College and the Dental community.
- Supporting student success through counseling, advising, and assisting individual students.
- Aiding students in overcoming obstacles to successful completion of instructional programs.
- Supporting students' professional development through appropriate organizations.
- Participating in Department, Division, and general adjunct faculty meetings,
- Participating in recruitment, retention, completion, and placement activities.
- Serving on the Dental Advisory Committee.
- Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS: This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
