Great Hill is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in San Diego, CA. The objective of this work is to will help build the customer's database software applications by meeting with stakeholders to develop requirements, organizing and participating in software development, implementing applications, and maintaining them through their life cycles.

Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • provide the customer with database programming expertise and technical recommendations for appropriately designing and constructing applications
  • serve as a point of contact for all matters related to the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of created applications
  • coordinate operational support to partners who utilize created applications
  • monitor usage, identify weaknesses, and facilitate the incorporation of improvements
  • help develop the production of application operational procedures and user documentation
  • prepare reporting documents, briefing materials, and organize appropriate trainings
  • lead a small team of programmers and mentor less-experienced programmers in the software techniques necessary to meet customer's software application challenges


Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field from an accredited college or university. Masters preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of software development experience in .NET and C# in a Microsoft Windows development environment. Strong experience with relational databases, especially SQL Server, API design and development.
  • A demonstrated successful track record in leadership and writing is required. Prior work with a USG Agency or the military is preferred.
  • Written and oral proficiency in English is required. Outstanding written and oral communication skills are required within an agile team environment. The incumbent must be able to communicate effectively and accurately with all team members, USG, NGO, and government officials. Candidate must be able to communicate effectively with remote team members. The individual is required to be capable of preparing documentation and progress reports. Correspondence and documents are to be prepared in a professional and competent manner.
  • Subject matter expertise in Microsoft suite of software (C#, SQL Server, MVC, Asp.NET) and related third-party tools such as JavaScript, HTML 5, jQuery and Bootstrap is required. Experience with a sourced control product, Awesome controls, storing documents in SQL Server and manipulating Excel files in C# are pluses. Expertise in cloud-based computing applications is preferred.
  • This position involves minimal travel, but the incumbent may be requested to travel domestically and/or internationally.
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to clear background check.
