The Staff Specialist for Post-Secondary Advisory will lead, oversee, and support the coordination of post-secondary planning for high school students. This will include both college and career planning, ensuring that regardless of our students' aspirations, they have a coordinated plan that will support them in achieving their goals.


Essential Functions



  • Participates in professional learning with the Office of College and Career Readiness to develop capacity regarding post-secondary planning and advising.
  • Leads and coordinates college and career planning for individual students through collaboration with school counselors and career advisors to ensure appropriate plans are developed for students.
  • Provides support to the principal, school counselor, and other staff in developing and evaluating the implementation of the school-based post-secondary programs and services.
  • Provides support for the principal in creating and implementing college and career pathways based on local work force needs and current practices in college application processes.
  • Works collaboratively with schools, community partners, and colleges to establish a college-going culture and to ensure that college-bound students have the opportunities and preparation necessary to attend college.
  • Works with the Communications and Family and Community Engagement Office to communicate accessibility to college, career, military, and financial aid information through reference materials and computer-based information systems.
  • Serves as the school's dual enrollment administrator, working with university partners and the Office of Teaching and Learning to support students' accelerated opportunities.
  • Works closely with the Office of Teaching and Learning and the Office of Career Readiness to understand and support the standards for college and career readiness.
  • Serves as the school's Naviance administrator, including keeping up to date information.
  • Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and non-discrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school board policies and the professional standards.

Desired Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or institution of higher education.
  • Three years of experience in working with college and/or career readiness and access programs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of effective college and career readiness standards, strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of current practices of college and career counseling.
  • Effective leadership and management skills that demonstrate the ability to accomplish and increase outcomes for students.
  • Experience in working with diverse populations.
  • Proficient in the knowledge and use of technical computer applications, inclusive of Microsoft and Google Suites.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet established schedules, timelines, and deadlines.
