SUMMARY

The Web Development Coordinator position within the Office of Communications of Montgomery County Commissioners Office will play a critical role in implementing the design, development, and maintenance of the County's web projects. Reporting to the Web Development Manager, the Web Develop Coordinator will implement will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the County's online presence effectively communicates with residents, promotes engagement, and supports organizational goals.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and develop user-friendly, responsive web applications and websites using modern web technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and frameworks/libraries like React, Angular, or Vue.js;
  • Implement best practices for web development, including accessibility standards, SEO optimization, and performance optimization techniques;
  • Integrate web applications with backend systems and databases to enable dynamic content delivery and functionality;
  • Conduct thorough testing and debugging to ensure the quality, reliability, and security of web solutions across different browsers, devices, and screen sizes;
  • Maintain and update existing web applications and websites, implementing enhancements and resolving issues as needed;
  • Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in web development, and share knowledge with team members to drive continuous improvement;
  • Collaborate with communications professionals, content creators, IT staff, and other County staff to ensure cohesive user experiences and visual consistency across web properties;
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to stakeholders and end-users as needed;
  • Utilize web analytics tools and metrics to track and analyze website performance, user behavior, and engagement metrics. Generate reports and insights to inform decision-making and continuous improvement efforts;
  • Implement web projects in accordance with accessibility standards, usability best practices, and security protocols.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree or relevant certifications are a plus;
  • 3+ years of professional experience in web development;
  • Expertise in front-end and back-end web development technologies, frameworks, and CMS platforms. Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and SQL is required. Current web platform operates through Civic Plus. Experience in this platform is preferred but not required;
  • Strong understanding of web design principles, usability best practices, accessibility standards (WCAG), SEO strategies, and web security protocols;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders;
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, user-centric digital experiences.
