Position description

The University of California, Davis School of Medicine is recruiting for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series in the Department of Family and Community Medicine. The Department of Family Medicine is national leader in primary care research, education, and clinical care.

The position would be expected to contribute with distinction in the areas of clinical care, teaching mentoring of trainees scholarly and/or creative activities, and University and public service.

Specific core duties, functions and responsibilities include:

* Share in the coverage of daytime and after-hours inpatient obstetrics (labor and delivery) shifts, as part of a Departmental Family Medicine obstetrics faculty attending coverage pool.

* Providing direct outpatient clinical care in all aspects of family medicine, with a strong focus on prenatal care, reproductive health care, and infant and pediatric care

* Teaching and supervision of residents and medical students in both the inpatient and outpatient settings, with an emphasis on supervision in the above listed areas of clinical emphasis.

* Contributing to departmental, University and public service


Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

* Candidates must possess an M.D. or D.O., have completed or currently in the last year of a residency, in Family and Community Medicine.

* Be Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine

* Ability to obtain a Medical License in the State of California

* Current outpatient clinical practice including outpatient infant, pediatric, prenatal, and postpartum care and reproductive health care.

* Current inpatient practice with a strong focus on obstetrical care including surgical obstetrics, and care of newborns.

* Demonstrated experience in the teaching of residents and students

* Commitment to providing care to diverse and under-served populations receiving care in FQHCs

* Comfort with providing full spectrum reproductive care to gender diverse patients

Preferred qualifications (other preferred, but not required, qualifications for the position)

* OB and reproductive health fellowship training or equivalent

* Comfort with medically complex pregnant patients
