Job Description

The Executive Director - Finance provides management with key strategic information on assigned business segments. This position develops a thorough knowledge of Allscripts SFM/SCM/CPM, EPSi, HPM, HBI, Axiom, general ledger, decision support and cost accounting systems. This position works closely with the vice president, and the assigned leaders to provide accurate and timely reports, budgeting, contract management and review, and revenue integrity for assigned business segments, and productivity management. This position is responsible for the development pro forma projections and forecasts across assigned business segments. This position gains full understanding of costing processes and for the explanation of actual results of the various financial reporting systems including but not limited to, monthly responsibility reports, service line reports, and other areas assigned. This position is responsible for working with leaders to explain financial reports, dashboards, and analytics to help them understand their business and identify opportunities for improvement. This position is responsible for understanding productivity reporting and management. This position works directly with the senior leadership, directors and managers to render assistance in matters of a financial nature. This position works with leaders to assist in the production of financial forecasts for routine as well as highly confidential business opportunities. In this role, the Executive Director will, with input from the Vice President, Operational Finance set the appropriate standards to ensure appropriate utilization of the hospital and its resources while maintaining optimal achievable standards of patient care. This position is responsible for increasing program awareness to the entire hospital staff. This position provides a key role in facilitating long-term success of care management by providing oversight of Baptist, Gulf Breeze, and Behavior Medicine.

Responsibilities

The Executive Director of Financial Operations supports the Vice President of Finance in managing the financial performance of Baptist Health Care, Inc. The role will be integral in supporting the financial management, performance measurement, and the analytics needs of the organization. This role is critical in partnering with the finance and analytics teams and the service line leaders to support the execution of financial/operational strategies across the organization. This role will help drive the development of analyses to aid in revenue growth, expense management, quality improvement, and human capital initiatives. The role will help to support the growth of the internal reporting platforms of the organization. This individual will drive a culture of high performance and continuous improvement and should possess excellent and proven leadership, communication, and financial analytical skills.
  • Partners with the Vice President of Finance in the preparation of short and long-range strategic plans, and monthly financial/operational reporting for various lines of business.
  • Builds and maintains strategic working relationships with the leadership team, the Controller, and the finance teams.
  • Key resource in educating the roll out of future financial tools for field teams.
  • Interprets and presents data for decision-making needs.
  • Recommends l areas of improvement and assists in driving results.
  • Provides cost analytics for operations and profitability reviews.
  • Assists in the completion and or review of financial justifications for operational business cases.
  • Coordinates all ad-hoc financial, operational, and data mining reporting requests.
  • Understanding of methodologies for performing financial and opportunity analysis of proposals.
  • Manage team members which include orientation, development, and evaluation of personnel, and monitoring the provision of delivering quality services.
  • Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and performance of financial processes and information; recommend and implement changes to improve customer service and overall efficiency.
  • Support the reviews of monthly financial statements to ensure compliance with accounting rules and regulations.
  • Effectively communicates departmental, organization, and industry information.
  • Assist in other duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the department and organization.
  • May be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.


Qualifications

Work Experience
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting/management experience, preferably in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Public Accounting experience, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency with excel spreadsheets and word processing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of advanced functions of PC software including Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Advanced knowledge of concepts related to data warehouse, database structure, and enterprise software, including the Power BI platform including but not limited to Power BI, Power Apps and Power Automate.
  • In-depth knowledge of hospital and Medicare reimbursement and related regulatory requirements, preferred.
  • Understands data collection and analysis for hospital and physician profiling.
  • Ability to present complex financial data to a variety of audiences.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field required.
  • Master's degree, preferred.

Licenses and Certifications
  • CPA, strongly preferred
