Summary

The Retention and Registration Specialist is a dedicated position focused on supporting retention efforts and promoting timely and accurate registration for all students. The position will provide coordination across all programs and student segments but with a new focus on adult and graduate students, who often require more regular support than traditional students as they navigate life cycle changes that can interrupt the educational plans of adult students.

This role requires a dynamic individual capable of implementing effective adult and graduate retention initiatives that complement a robust university retention plan, fostering a positive and supportive environment for adult and graduate students, and contributing to the continuous improvement of registration processes for all student populations. The College Retention and Registration Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring that students not only enroll successfully but also thrive throughout their academic journey.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and assess comprehensive retention strategies tailored to the unique needs of adult and graduate students.
  • Collaborate with academic advisors, faculty, and other stakeholders to identify and address potential barriers to adult and graduate student retention.
  • Coordinate a university registration and re-enrollment communication plan for both current and stop-out students.
  • Streamline the registration process for adult and graduate students, ensuring accessibility and efficiency.
  • Utilize student data to analyze retention trends and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare regular reports, registration statistics, and related metrics for management review.
  • Collaborate with academic departments to align registration processes with program requirements and ensure accurate course offerings.
  • Communicate changes in curriculum or policies that may impact registration to relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist in orientation sessions for new adult and graduate students to familiarize them with registration processes, academic expectations, and available support services.
  • Stay informed about best practices in adult and graduate student retention and registration.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to processes and services based on feedback and data analysis.
  • Organize and participate in outreach events, workshops, and information sessions to engage with students and address their concerns.
  • Provide advisory support to students in navigating academic requirements, degree planning, and career pathways.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience in higher education administration, particularly in adult and graduate student services.
  • Knowledge of student development theories and best practices in retention strategies.
  • Proficiency in using student information systems and data analysis tools.
  • An interest in learning and the ability to master policies, processes, and procedures quickly is essential.
  • Project management skills and problem-solving skills are preferred.
  • Must be highly organized and detail oriented.
