Position Summary: The Plant Engineer is required to Support the day to day - but is focused on Plant and Equipment improvement, the role is to be predominantly forward-looking supporting Engineering Projects and Capital spends, adding technical input on current procedures and activities as well as gathering the best-in-class solutions locally and globally. In addition to the plant focused activities there is a requirement for the plant Engineer to periodically support the central Engineering team. Over time the expectation is the Plant Engineer will develop a specific domain expertise in a technical element of the process and act in an advisory role to the Trivium Network as a whole. Under the direction of the Plant Manager or Operations Director, the Plant Engineer is responsible for all technical aspects of the manufacturing facility including technical operations, manufacturing equipment and processes, utilities and support systems, reliability, process improvement, skills development and training, environmental and workplace safety, and manufacturing quality. This role leads and partners with functional leaders to implement enterprise standards in safety, quality, maintenance, continuous improvement, and manufacturing excellence. Direct and indirect supervision of technical / skilled-trade employees. The Plant Engineer maintains a dotted line reporting to the Corporate Engineering leadership. Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Manage the facility engineering functions and all safety practices, EPA, OSHA, GMP and DOT regulatory aspects of engineering activities.
- Support corporate EH&S programs and policies to insure operational excellence in workplace safety culture.
- Effectively manage all aspects of technical manufacturing to insure the delivery of high-quality products and exceptional customer service.
- Develop site engineering strategic plans to include annual capital investment budgeting.
- Manages capital projects including budget compliance, milestone management and installation.
- Supervise, develop, and coordinate the training of maintenance personnel on subject matter to include mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical and key technology areas.
- Provide leadership, direction, performance management and development of employees with emphasis on teamwork and problem-solving.
- Partner with site and corporate functions (Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, R&D, Quality, EH&S and others) in executing process improvement, optimization, root cause analysis, maintenance, new product development and capital projects.
- Create technical Scope of Supply documentation and work closely with Procurement team members on purchase negotiations.
- Support and partner with Trivium maintenance & reliability programs to include planning, execution, and documentation to maximize equipment reliability and utilization
- Supervises major breakdown repair situations.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in spoilage, labor utilization, safety, efficiency, manufacturing operations, cost reductions, etc.
- Ensure alignment and integration with corporate engineering regarding projects and resource needs.
- Provide internal and external communications and support as needed, 24 hours a day to ensure proper operation and project delivering.
- Ensure engineering meetings are in place driving effective actions. Attend operational meetings.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong project management skills
- Working knowledge and understanding of EPA, GMP, OSHA and DOT regulation
- Able to solve complex problems outside of normal processes
- Excellent management / leadership aptitude
- Working knowledge and understanding of PLCs/HMIs - Allen Bradley- Control Logistic Series, Siemens
- Strong analytical, computer (MS Office, CAD) and communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics / prints.
- Development and implementation of preventive/predictive maintenance programs
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical engineering with Minimum of 2-5 years' experience in a highly technical manufacturing operation
- Supervisory & Leadership Experience
- Hands on experience with Engineering/Maintenance Systems & Programs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of Electrical Process Control Systems
- Experience with manufacturing improvement methods implementation
- Experience with SPC and related quality improvement tools
- Metal can manufacture experience
- High speed manufacturing experience.
- Working knowledge of TPM
Pay Range: Min: $91,100.00/yr Max: $136,700.00/yr
