Gracedale's dining services prepares daily meals for all of the long-term care residents. Kitchen Help employees perform a variety of assigned food service duties related to the preparation and delivery of meals, washing dishes, and cleaning work and dining areas.

Job Description

GENERAL PURPOSE
Performs a variety of assigned duties related to the preparation and service of meals; washing dishes; cleaning work areas and dining areas. Responsible for maintaining high standard of cleanliness.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Dining Services, Executive Chef and/or Chef Manager.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED
This position is not responsible for the supervision of other employees or functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION
Serve patients meals on centralized food line.

All tasks related to washing dishes, silverware, etc.

Serve food in dining room.

Assist in cleaning work areas and equipment.

Use toaster, juice machine, coffee makers, and any other related equipment.

Assisting cooks with duties as necessary, such as washing and peeling fresh fruits and vegetables, making sandwiches, buttering bread, etc.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE - Completion of a high school, or general equivalency, diploma; AND

Must complete Feeding Program training.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS - Applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and present valid proof of vaccinated status, in order to be eligible for hire at Gracedale Nursing Home. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), people are considered fully vaccinated two (2) weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series (such as Pfizer or Moderna vaccines), or two (2) weeks after a single-dose vaccine (such as Johnson & Johnson's Janssen vaccine).

Upon hire employee must have a drug screening and COVID-19 testing. Employees may also be periodically tested for COVID-19 as required or recommended. In addition, Gracedale Nursing Home will follow The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements with regard to booster(s) needed for workers in health care settings.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

Ability to remain standing for extended periods of time

Must be able to work in a warm, moist atmosphere and work in close contact with other people.

Willingness to do routine work according to specific instructions.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
Brooms, mops, knives, vegetable peelers, can opener, toaster, juice machine, and coffee makers. Hair nets and rubber gloves must be worn when handling food.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately noisy.
