Job Summary: The Endoscopy Technician 2 provides technical support to the physician during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; works under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN); assists with all types of GI procedures, cleaning, high level disinfection, and basic troubleshooting of endoscopes and accessory equipment following policies, protocols, techniques, and guidelines; performs unit secretarial and clerical aspects of patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse as needed; meets qualifications and competencies as identified in the department-specific Plan for Providing Care; utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize excellence in customer service and safe patient care; contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum one year of GI experience performing complex G.I. procedures, e.g., Endoscopic Ultrasound, Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), Band Ligation (BL), Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA), GI bleeds in intensive care setting required.
Knowledge and Skills: Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment. Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.
Licensures and Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
