Summary:
The Clinical Nursing Assistant is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process under the direction of a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities:
*Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies during emergency situations.
*Observes, collects, and documents patient information obtained while providing care and promptly report significant changes in the patient's condition to a registered nurse or physician.
*Assists patients and their families during admission to the clinical area, orientation to the hospital/clinic/home health experience, and discharge.
*Provides care/ treatments to patients as outlined in plan of care including, but not limited to:
oMonitoring of vital signs
oMeasurement of height and weight
oSpecimen collection
oSkin preps/scrubs such as chlorohexidine (CHG) bathing
oCatheter care
oCapillary blood glucose checks
oSimple wound care
oRange-of-motion exercises
oDrain care
*Assist patients with routine activities of daily living (ADL) such as bathing, dressing, feeding and assisting with ambulation as outlined in plan of care
*Maintains an effective clinical work environment including but not limited to cleaning the work area, changing linens, maintaining and monitoring supply levels, and transporting patients / specimens throughout hospital.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
*Must have nursing assistant certification, such as Nurse Aide I registration as administered by the North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON) or equivalent
*Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
