Position Summary
The Director, Medical Marketing will be an integral part of the team responsible for planning and executing the U.S. launch of UPLIZNA in IgG4 related disease ("IgG4-RD"), a rare, chronic, systemic, fibroinflammatory disease with unpredictable disease flares and progressive organ involvement that can lead to life-threatening manifestations. This individual will be responsible for developing a comprehensive understanding of thought leaders and key institutions in this emerging disease state, gathering KOL insights through advisory boards and field-based activities, has well as directing the execution of medical marketing tactics, to include peer-to-peer education and medical congresses.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for developing and executing a medical marketing strategy to support the launch of UPLIZNA in IgG4 related disease (IgG4-RD), inclusive of peer-to-peer education, congress activities, association relations, and advisory boards to achieve brand objectives, strategies, and sales targets. This role works collaboratively with Medical Affairs and Market Access to leverage clinical data and thought leader development to accelerate the changing treatment paradigm of IgG4-RD and ensure appropriate access for patients.
- Partner across the marketing team to develop and implement the medical marketing strategy across key prescribers (rheumatologists, gastroenterologists, and other specialists), specialists involved in the diagnostic process (radiologists and pathologists), referrers and advanced practice providers.
- Collaborate with medical affairs and field-based marketing team members to develop a comprehensive understanding of thought leaders, key accounts, regional opinion leaders, and influence networks within IgG4-RD
- Manage and enhance external relationships with thought leaders and strategic business partners, in collaboration with the field-based strategic marketing liaison team
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the disease states, competitive landscape, and therapeutic management of the space.
- Develop and implement promotional and disease education tactics that help build awareness of an emerging disease state, accelerate the patient journey to diagnosis, and position UPLIZNA as a treatment option for IgG4-RD patients.
- Drive collaborative cross-functional execution to ensure appropriate alignment between strategy & field efforts.
- Leverage business insights and expert feedback to provide active input into the development and review of brand strategy, tactical plans, and financial plan.
- Gain feedback on and track marketing program effectiveness/ROI and continuously strive to optimize marketing programs.
- Effectively and consistently execute multiple, simultaneous projects and manage resources to ensure deliverables are on time, on budget, and answer business objectives. Manage project timelines and budgets.
- Negotiate with vendors and drive optimal value for the brand. Work closely with contracts, pharmacovigilance, and compliance on Master Services Agreements, work orders, and contractual agreements.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Bachelor's degree in related field required; Master's Degree preferred.
- 10+ years' experience in biopharma marketing/sales with medical marketing functional experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in inflammatory disease, especially rheumatology and/or gastroenterology, is preferred.
- Experience with Buy and Bill biologics preferred.
- Excellent leadership, project management, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience developing and nurturing thought leader and HCP relationships.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate analysis into strategy.
- Thorough knowledge of FDA regulations.
- Requires approximately 30% travel, including some overnight and weekend commitments.
