The Opportunity

The Department of Educational Leadership and Higher Education in the College of Community Innovation and Education at the University of Central Florida is seeking an innovative and energetic professional to join the faculty as an adjunct instructor in the fully online Career and Workforce Education Program Area.

Appointment: Adjunct faculty is hired on a semester-by-semester basis, as needed.

Responsibilities:


  • Deliver engaging and effective online instruction including facilitating weekly assignments, answering student emails promptly, integrating high quality online teaching methods, and applying instructional strategies for successful student outcomes.

  • Administer fair and objective assessments through course developed rubrics to evaluate student progress and provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments and exams.

  • Facilitate weekly virtual office hours.

  • Collaborate with colleagues within the Career and Workforce Education Program via email and end of semester virtual meetings to promote interdisciplinary learning opportunities, share resources, and enhance the overall educational experience for students.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with diverse student populations and collaborate effectively with colleagues.

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment that values diversity and promotes equity.

  • Prior teaching experience, using research-based pedagogical methods and strategies, with a demonstrated ability to effectively engage and inspire students.

  • Familiarity with current educational technologies and their integration into instruction.


Anticipated to begin Spring 2024.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • A doctoral degree in Career and Technical Education, Workforce Development, or a closely related field from an accredited institution by time of hire.

  • Proficiency in computer hardware and software skills.

  • Previous teaching experience.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Evidence of effective university teaching in Career and Technical Education or closely related field;

  • Experience teaching in a Learning Management System (LMS) platform; particularly the Canvas application.
