West Virginia University School of Dentistry is seeking applications for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant / Associate or Full Professor level as Director of the Advanced Education Program in Endodontics.

Primary responsibilities will be to administer the twenty-six-month postdoctoral program in Endodontics, which includes three first year and three second year post-doctoral graduate students. The Director will coordinate and administer all academic, clinical and research responsibilities that lead successful candidates to both a certificate in Endodontics and a Master of Science (M.S.) degree. This multi-faceted position involves direct clinical supervision as well as conducting extensive reviews of both current and historical literature, evaluation of completed post-doctoral cases and coordination of academic programs with all departments in the School of Dentistry and the Health Sciences Center. In addition, the Director will assist the Chairman of the Department by providing instruction to predoctoral students, including didactic and clinical participation at all levels. Both participation in research and pursuit of personal development within the School of Dentistry are required of all faculty members. The candidate can participate in intramural dental faculty practice and must be eligible for a West Virginia dental license (http://www.wvdentalboard.org/).

Qualifications

Advanced training in Endodontics is required and the candidate must be certified by the American Board of Endodontics or agree to obtain certification within 24 months. The candidate must document successful teaching and clinical practice in an academic setting and demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Two years of clinical or private practice experience is highly recommended.

West Virginia University School of Dentistry is located in the historic community of Morgantown, West Virginia. Located only 80 miles south of Pittsburgh, Morgantown is easily accessible to major metropolitan areas in the East and Midwest.

The School of Dentistry is one of 14 colleges in a major, land-grant research University and is part of a comprehensive Health Sciences Center which includes the Schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Public Health, the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center and West Virginia University Hospitals. The Health Sciences Center campus is also the home of the new Blanchette Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute and a new Library/Learning Resource Center.
