Job Summary
Under administrative supervision of the School Leader and/or Assistant School Leader and the day-to-day direction of the assigned Lead Teacher, assist the Lead Teacher in planning and providing a stimulating and comprehensive learning environment for infants, toddlers or pre-school children; assume lead teacher responsibilities in absence of the Lead Teacher; perform activities meeting Federal Early Head Start and Head Start Performance Standards and any regulatory standard regarding classroom activity.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions
* Comply with the education content mandates of the Head Start Performance Standards, program assessment, and service plans
* Assist in the daily operations for the classrooms as a sub and in the Extended Care Program.
* May assist peers with developing weekly lesson plans.
* Utilize CAP-selected classroom support model to assist with classroom management.
* May assist with home visit and parent conferences.
* Work cooperatively with all CAP employees, Family Support personnel, volunteers and collaborative partners.
* Build and maintain good parent/teacher relationships to encourage parent involvement.
* Assist with required documentation including, but not limited to: Monthly Reports, Attendance, Meal Count, Family Contacts and Child Injury Reports.
* Complete the Lead Teacher's responsibilities in absence of the Lead Teacher.
* Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
* Experience working with infants, toddlers or pre-school children
* Bilingual preferred
Required Education/Experience
4 year old Classroom
Associate's Degree (or Higher) in Early Childhood Education or Related Degree
OR
Associate's Degree (or Higher) in any subject and have a Pre-School CDA or a Certificate of Mastery
(or on IDP to complete CDA within 1 year)
OR
Para Qualified and have a Pre-School CDA or a Certificate of Mastery (or on IDP to complete CDA within 1 year)
OR
Associate's Degree (or Higher) in any subject with 12 or more Early Childhood college credit hours as defined by NAEYC Standards with 480 hours professional experience teaching Pre-School age children (can be retroactive within past 5 years)
3 Year Old Classroom
Associate's Degree (or Higher) in Early Childhood Education or Related Degree
OR
Pre-School CDA or Certificate of Mastery (or on IDP to complete CDA within 1 year)
OR
Associate's Degree (or Higher) in any subject with 12 or more Early Childhood college credit hours as defined by NAEYC Standards with 480 hours professional experience teaching Pre-School age children (can be retroactive within past 5 years)
OR
Associate's Degree (or Higher) in any subject and have a Pre-School CDA or Certificate of Mastery (or on IDP to complete CDA within 1 year)
0-36 month Classroom
Associate's Degree (or Higher) in Early Childhood Education or Related Degree
OR
Associate's Degree (or Higher) in any subject with 12 or more Early Childhood college credit hours as defined by NAEYC Standards with 480 hours professional experience teaching Infants/Toddlers (can be retroactive within past 5 years)
OR
Infant/Toddler CDA or Certificate of Mastery
PLUS
Trained in infant and toddler development within 1 year of hire or transfer
- Para Qualified is either 48 college coursework or a score of 455 or better on the Praxis exam
- Infant and toddler training is equivalent to 4 Modules PITC training. All employees must be in compliance with this within first year of employment or transfer
- Teachers in OECP classrooms on an IDP to get CDA cannot move into an EHS room until the plan is complete and the CDA is earned
- Extended Care & Substitutes will be expected to gain the same credentials as TIIs. They will have 30 days from day of hire to be placed on an IDP. The Site Director will determine which track, I/T or PS, the employee will follow for credentialing.
- Certificate of Mastery must be obtained from the State of Oklahoma
- Related Degree refers to areas of Child Development, Psychology or Human Development and Family Science with an emphasis in Child and Family

* Must be able to accurately audit records and ensure compliance with written or oral guidelines.
* Ability to take initiative, multi-task and work well under pressure.
* Must maintain strict confidentiality of extremely sensitive data, records, files, conversations, etc
Essential Physical & Mental Requirements
Employee is subject to standing, stooping, walking, lifting, and carrying objects throughout daily job performance. Must be able to lift and carry fifty (50) pounds. Exposure to all weather conditions and regular traffic hazard. Driving is required frequently.
