Position Summary |
This position is responsible for research activities in the Center for Vaccines and Immunology in a Biosafety Level 2 environment. The employee will be responsible for a number of laboratory tasks including:
1. Tissue culture cell line generation and maintenance
2. Pick up of blood samples from the
UGA
CTRU and processing of human blood samples
3. Viral and bacterial assays
4.
DNA and
RNA extraction,
PCR and cloning
5. Protein expression and purification
6. Immunology assay development
7. Conducting animal research studies
8. Maintain a database of samples and ship samples to collaborators
9. Other related tasks as assigned by the PI
Position is funded by grants. Continuation of employment while probable, is not guaranteed. |

Learn new procedures and solve routine technical problems. Maintain laboratory inventory and follow financial/management protocols of the Center for Vaccines and Immunology. |

Serve as the Lab Manager for the Mousa Lab, tissue culture cell line generation and maintenance, growth of virus, virus neutralization assays,
DNA extraction, protein expression and purification, and immunology and biochemical assay development. Operate with a high degree of autonomy, assisting others in the laboratory and handling day to day management of the laboratory. Supervision of students and staff may be needed. Handle multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment. |

Preparation of dishes and materials and dishwashing and autoclaving, processing of nonhuman primate samples, and processing of infectious human blood samples. Maintain a clean and sterile lab environment.

Conducting animal treatment/immunization and infection experiments, and other related tasks as assigned by the PI. Design and implement experiments, data analysis and keep detailed records of all procedures.
